The tour guides and transportation between islands were 10/10. The hotel options leave much to be desired, especially after requesting an upgrades. I was very disappointed with the upgraded room in Santorini and checked out immediately and booked elsewhere. The "4-star" hotel was dingy, pool with 80 year old grandma sporting a thong (not joking), housekeeping mopping tile floor during buffet breakfast, shower in room with peeling paint, airplanes flying overhead constantly not to mention the off the beaten path location. We ended up at the Volcano View Hotel which was the highlight of hotel stay and would recommend to anyone.

The transfer service from Athens Airport to our hotel was excellent and the hotels exceeded all my expectations.

Well organised, timely pick ups, great clean and comfortable vehicles for transport, lovely accommodation and hosts.

Discover Classic Greece by visiting Epidaurus, Mycenae, Olympia, and Delphi on a 3-day tour from Athens. You'll also see incredible ancient cities like Corinth and Arachova.

Description

After picking you up from your hotel in Athens at the indicated time, you'll begin the 3-day tour by boarding a comfortable coach. Your driver will head west to the Corinth Canal , where you'll stop to admire one of the most impressive human-made canals in the world. Continue the journey to the south till you get to Epidaurus , home to one of the best-preserved theatres in Greece and with impressive acoustics.

Back on the bus, you'll head to Argolis. Here, you'll explore one of the most important archaeological sites of Ancient Greece: Mycenae .

After visiting these surprising ruins and marveling at world-famous constructions like the Lion Gate, the Cyclopean walls, the circular Royal Tombs, and the Treasury of Atreus, you'll continue the tour by setting off to Olympia , the birthplace of the first Olympic Games. Spend the night in this city.

Our second day will begin with a visit to the archaeological site of Olympia. Here, you'll see the Temple of Zeus, the altar where the Olympic torch is lit, the Temple of Hera, the Stadium where the first Olympic Games took place , and the site's Archaeological Museum.

After listening to the interesting stories about Ancient Greece accompanied by photographs of the archaeological site, we'll get back on the bus and cross the impressive Rio-Antirrio Bridge . Then, we'll return to Delphi to spend the night.

After a delicious breakfast, begin a tour of Delphi, considered the center of the world of Ancient Greece . You'll explore one of the most important archaeological sites of Europe, followed by a visit to its Archaeological Museum, which accommodates countless relics and unique ancient items.

After spending a whole morning discovering this incredibly interesting part of Greece, you'll return to Athens in the afternoon.

1st DAY: The tour departs for the first historic monument, the Corinth Canal. This marvel of engineering was started in the 7th century, BC. This is followed by a drive to Epidaurus to visit the ancient Epidaurus Theater which is famed for it's amazing acoustics where a whisper can be heard in the back row seats.

Continuing on, the tour moves on to a  a UNESCO World Heritage site,  the Argolis region, land of Homer's Golden Mycenae. You'll be experiencing one of the major centers of Greek civilization dating as far back as the 2nd century BC. The tour will include the Cyclopean Walls, the Lion's Gate, the Royal Tombs and the magnificent structure of the 14th century BC, the Treasury of Atreus.

After a bit of free time, the excursion departs for Olympia, the birthplace of the Olympic Games. Overnight stay in Olympia. 

2nd DAY: The day commences with a visit to the Olympia Archaeological Site.  This site includes the Temple of Zeus, the Archaeological Museum, the Temple of Hera, and Altar of the Original Olympic flame and Olympic Stadium.

Moving on from there to a rest stop in Patras followed by crossing the Corinthian Bay and passing the city of Nafpaktos, the tour proceeds along the coastal road to Delphi.  This area was known in ancient times as the 'Navel of the World' and was home to the Oracle of Delphi where world leaders came to pay tribute and receive their prophesies. 3rd DAY: Another exciting day of history. The excursion will travel on to the Archaeological Site and Museum of Delphi.  Approaching the Delphi Sanctuary, the tour passes by the eternal Castalia spring.

Once at the site itself, the tour includes a visit to the monument of the Argive kings, the Temple of Pronaia, the Athenian Stoa,  the Treasury of the Athenians, the monument of Platea and the Temple of Apollo, famed location of the Oracle. The guide will be a wealth of information explaining the richness and importance of Delphi as one views the spectacular exhibits in the museum. The famous bronze Charioteer, the Naxian Sphinx, the Statue of Antinoos are just some of the treasures considered to be some of the best of ancient Greece.  We return to Athens this afternoon.

Day 1: Athens - Olympia - Honey, Olive Oil and Food Tasting -  Delphi: 

• On day one, after being picked up from your hotel in Athens, you'll make a short stop at the breathtaking Canal of Corinth before heading to Ancient Olympia. This archeological site was the birthplace of the Olympic Games in 776 B.C. You'll visit the temple of Zeus, one of the most celebrated sanctuaries of ancient Greece, and the stadium, where the marble starting blocks are still in position. We will visit the flea market to taste delightful experience of free wine and olive oil tasting, savoring the distinct blends of olive oil and the iconic Greek olives.  We will visit a local honey farm, where under the shade of the trees we will have a coffee / juice and enjoy hand-made local desserts all made with honey produced in this farm for generations.Then, crossing over the impressive bridge of Rion – Antirion, one of the largest in Europe, we will reach the romantic city of Naupactus, a beautiful seaside small town, where you can visit the Venetian Castle or Port, or take a coffee break or lunch. Finally, we'll head to Delphi for an overnight stay.

Day 2: Delphi - Meteora - Sunset around the Rocks: 

• On day two, after breakfast, you'll visit the Archaeological site of Delphi, the monument of the Argive Kings, the treasury of the Athenians, and the Athenian Stoa, among other sites. You'll also visit Castalia Spring and the Delphi museum before making a short stop at the traditional winter village of Arachova, the best winter resort in Greece, where you can buy hand-made pastries, cheeses, spices, and other local products or have lunch at a traditional tavern. Driving through Central Greece, we will arrive in Kalambaka, a small traditional town that is built at the foot of the majestic grey rocks of God, at the shadow of the great Meteora Monasteries. Enjoy the sunset around the rocks beofre the overnight stay in Kalambaka.

Day 3: Meteora - Athens:

• On day three, we'll visit the Byzantine Monasteries of Meteora, which are included on the UNESCO world heritage monument list. You'll have the opportunity to visit the Holy Monastery of Great Meteoro, the biggest and oldest one of all, and the great monastery of St. Stephan, a small church built in the 16th century. We'll then enjoy a traditional Greek lunch in the picturesque village of Kalambaka before heading back to Athens. On the way, we'll make a short stop at Thermopylae to admire the statue of Leonidas as a memorial of the battle of the 300 Spartans against thousands of soldiers of the Persian Empire. The tour will end with your drop-off at your hotel in Athens at around 18.30.

Day 1, Worldwide Symbol of Civilization

Your significant exploration begins with your arrival at the international airport of Athens where an experience professional driver will welcome you and transfer you to the city of Athens which has a distinct ambience all year round. The bright sun of our country, the green olive trees with the strong barks, the wind that regenerates the atmosphere and the steep mountains that embrace the city of Athens is the first multifaceted image that you perceive as our experienced driver gives you the necessary information that is needed to start your journey enjoyably in a place where the history, the civilization and nature co-exist harmoniously. You reach the heart of the town and spend the night in the recommended hotel so that you can rest from your journey. Day 2, Architecture, Culture, Riviera and Sunset

A beautiful day has started and finally the dream that seemed unreachable comes true. The show begins with the columns of Acropolis that excite our interest as it has been doing every day for the past 25 centuries. The only difference is that you are the Guest Star of the day. The first rays of the morning sun that rise from the back of the mountain of Penteli, are in a hurry to see the view of Parthenon. Another day sunshine vows to the grandeur of history. Who can miss this view?

Our driver will pick you up early in the morning and the tour will begin on the unique Acropolis that hosts Parthenon, Erechteion, Propylaea, Mars Hill etc. We will continue visiting the Temple of Olympian Zeus, the Panathenaic Stadium, Syntagma square (Constitution square) and other destination within the town. We will climb up the hill of Lycabettus to enjoy the breathtaking view. We will drive along Athens Riviera viewing the deep blue of the Aegean Sea and the fishing boats that bounce off the waves. Some skerries a bit further invite us to admire them and in no time we reach Cape Sounion. You will visit the temple of Poseidon that stands high and mighty on the rock beaten by the gods of the wind and the saltiness of the sea. A wonderful moment is when the sun disappears embracing the sea and the light of the Attica sky comes from the stars. Lunch in a tavern by the sea to taste the local cuisine of seafood and snacks and then we will return to the hotel in Athens. Tomorrow a surprise awaits you.

Day 3, Exciting experiences and legends

A wonderful day dawns that promises to excite your imagination. The blue color of the sea spreads out only for you and the tour begins when our driver picks you up from the hotel so that we can head towards the Isthmus of Corinth. You will live an exciting experience during a breathtaking trip which cannot be experienced anywhere in the world. You will board on a distinct ship, for just a few people, to tour Diolkos where you will be quite impressed due to the fact that the voyage is between two land points that connect continental Greece with Peloponnesus.

Our 3-day Peloponnese tour starts by driving out of the city along the scenic coastal road towards west. Our first stop is the impressive Corinth Canal where you can take pictures and enjoy the breathtaking view by walking on the bridge of the Canal. After 20 minutes driving, we will arrive to Ancient Corinth where you will visit the archaeological site and admire the monolithic Temple of Apollo, the Pirene and Glafki fountains, the Bema where Apostle Paul was judged, the Ancient Agora, the Ancient Theater, the Roman Odeon and the archaeological museum of Corinth.

Acrocorinth will be our next stop to take pictures of the imposing fortress and the breathtaking view of the Corinthian Gulf. Continuing our 3-day Peloponnese tour we will drive through beautiful villages and you will enjoy a scenic drive passing through orange tree fields and vineyards, our next stop will be Mycenae. The ancient citadel of Mycenae was the kingdom of glorious Agamemnon and the Mycenean civilization was one of the most important pillars in the Greek history. In the archaeological site you will admire the Cyclopean walls of the citadel, you will walk through the Lion Gate (symbol of the Mycenean civilization), and see important Mycenean tombs. You will also visit the archaeological museum and a little further down you will be impressed by the tomb of King Agamemnon.

We will continue our tour heading south towards the town of Nafplion, one of the most historical towns in the modern history of Greece. You will admire historical buildings and explore the beautiful small alleys of the town and right after you will enjoy your meal in a local restaurant.

After lunch we will check in at the hotel and get some rest for a while. Before leaving Nafplion you will visit the fortress of Palamidi which was built by the Venetians and its located above the town. You will enter the fortress and you will be amazed by the panoramic view of the town.

Our last stop for the day is the Asclepieion of Epidaurus which is located 30 min away from Nafplion. In the archaeological site you will visit the ancient theatre of Epidaurus which is regarded as the best preserved ancient theatre in Greece in terms of its perfect acoustics and fine structure. The Asclepieion of Epidaurus used to be a therapeutic and religious center dedicated to Asklepios, the god of healing. After you complete your visit there we will return to Nafplion for your overnight.

We will start our second day after your breakfast and we will head to glorious Sparta. As soon as we arrive in Sparta we will stop in front of the statue of King Leonidas known from the battle of Thermopylae. Right after we will visit the archaeological site and see the ruins of ancient Sparta.

We will continue our tour by driving you to the fortified city of Mystras. In the fortified city you will admire the palaces of Michael Palaiologos, who was one of the Byzantine emperors from 1261 until his death, and numerous Byzantine churches.

After you complete your visit there we will drive you to a local restaurant to enjoy your lunch. Our last destination will be ancient Olympia, where we are going to spend the night.

We will start our third day after your breakfast and we will drive you to visit the archaeological site of ancient Olympia and the two museums, where you will see among other things, the ancient gymnasiums, the workshop of Phedias, the temples of Zeus and Hera, the Palaestra, the altar where the Olympic Torch is always being lit for the Modern Olympics, the stadium, the pediments of the temple of Zeus, the statues of Nike of Paeonius and Hermes of Praxiteles, as well as the legendary helmet of General Miltiades from the battle of Marathon in 490 BC.

After finishing your visit at the sites, you will enjoy a meal in a local Greek restaurant. Our tour ends by driving you back to Athens through a scenic drive along the coast line of the Corinthian gulf.

Our private tour starts with Athens Tours Greece after breakfast to THESSALONIKI through the towns of Central Greece crossing the Thessalian plain, the granary of GREECE, Larisa, Tempi mountains, Katerini and drive to the famous, sacred Macedonian town of DION (visit) to reach late in the afternoon Thessaloniki, the capital of Northern Greece. Short sightseeing, to see the large Byzantine church of St. Dimitrios, the Rotonda, the withe tower which is the trademark of Thessaloniki, and the statue of Alexander the Great. In between, time for lunch! Free evening to discover more about the capital of North Greece. Walk along the scenic coastal pavement of the town to visit the white tower and the statue of Alexander the Great. On arrival, transfer to your hotel. In the afternoon, visit the most interesting museum of THESSALONIKI and sightseeing in the city. Overnight

Day 2: Thessaloniki, Pella, Vergina, Lefkadia

The Kingdom of Macedon

With the fall of the Macedonian Kingdom from the Romans Amphipolis became part of the Roman Empire from the city passed the famous Via Egnatia.
