Although they offer some short breaks, Alfa Travel tends to concentrate on holidays of at least 4 nights duration. Most of their UK holidays are 4, 6 or 7 nights long. Their overseas holidays, which include a wide range of destinations in Ireland and the near Continent, vary from 4 to 11 nights.

Alfa Holidays Hotels (Leisureplex)

Alfa Travel sister company Leisureplex owns and operates over twenty hotels around the UK, many in popular British seaside locations like Blackpool and Scarborough. All the bedrooms feature the same high standard of facilities including extras like hairdryers, tea/coffee making facilities, colour TVs and more. 

If you are staying at a Leisureplex hotel and are on an Alfa Travel coach holiday then you will receive breakfast and 3 course dinner and on some dates lunch is also included. There is a choice of meals and also a selection of vegetarian/vegan options. 

There is generally entertainment provided in the hotels at least four evenings a week. If you just want a quiet evening the hotels are usually large enough to offer both so you can pick and choose. Just check before you book to make sure the hotel you have chosen is suitable for your holiday requirements. Despite the fact that many of the guests tend to be over 40 the hotels still offer child reductions for families looking for a traditional family seaside holiday.

The holiday was enjoyable

The holiday was enjoyable. The hotel room and food good and coach driver, Tracy, was lovely so helpful and friendly. Downside was travelling I appreciate that the journey takes longer due to pick ups but I live 3 1/2 hours from destination but took over double that time as had to travel south to swop coaches then north again. Also coach on way to resort had a problem with door so had a further delay of 2 hours, we only arrived at destination 30 mins befor evening meal.

It was very well organised

It was very well organised, all the staff were friendly respectful and polite. The coach was comfortable and the driver Brian was polite and helpful. Waverley castle is in a beautiful setting. The hotel staff were all very good efficient , helpful and friendly. The standard of cleanliness was good, unfortunately some of the main courses at dinner time were not that good, Plenty of choice, the starters were ok, but it seemed they used instant or frozen mash and not much fish in the fish pie! I found it unusual to have to order a salad the previous day! The trips were very enjoyable.

All in all a very enjoyable trip.

From being picked up by the feeder coach in Pontefract to being dropped off, everything was nigh on perfect. Dave, our coach driver, was great. The hotel in Criccieth was lovely. Room was clean and comfy, meals varied and tasty and waitress Serena wonderful. Excursions were really good and interesting. All in all a very enjoyable trip AND I won £70 on the bingo. Yay.

Good value for money all round

Good comfortable coach except that we were not allowed to use the on board toilet due to being told that there was a 'part missing'. This proved to be most uncomfortable. Good hotel with decent food. Coach driver was very friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed the two excursions included in our trip. All round good value for money.

Edinburgh trip

Patient, informative drivers look after their passengers very well. Excursions very good 👍 One slight criticism, the Waverly Castle Hotel, Melrose, was a bit isolated, and the interior of the Hotel was a bit lacking in directions ie; Restaurant, Bar etc.

From pick-up to set-down

From pick-up to set-down, everything is done for you. No driving or parking hassle, accommodation sorted, excursions included, what's not to like? You don't even have to handle your luggage, except to unpack/repack.

Enjoyable trip

Enjoyable 5 day trip with Alfa. No problems at all. Seamless transfers, very impressed by the coach and luggage transfers. We had a contracted in coach which could have been a lot more comfortable but driver was lovely and kind. Hotel was OK, scenery and place itself was wonderful. Will definitely be booking another trip away. First time as a solo traveller with Alfa and would recommend

Pick up and journey good

Pick up and journey good, but hotel covered in scaffolding very disheartening. The room was quite good but a pipe went from floor to ceiling constantly red hot. We asked reception who said they would look into it, next day still nothing, went back to reception and was curtly told ‘we told you yesterday we would look into it’ nothing was done at all. We did not go on 1st trip and the driver Chris told everyone then that the Thursday trip time had changed to half an hour earlier but failed o tell us even though we sat with him in the dining room, consequently we missed the steam train trip.

Brilliant tour

We enjoyed our holiday with you the only complaint we have is when we picked up the tour guide for Cambridge she took us to a garden centre first why?. The hotel was lovely the food very nice and to have a tour guide for both Oxford and Cambridge was brilliant to learn all about their history and traditions.

Viv and Peter go to Wales

Alfa go out of their way to ensue that we all have the best time we can whilst in their care. From when the feeder coach picked us up we didn't have to carry our cases until they dropped us off back home. Andrew, our driver, was careful whilst driving, considerate to all our needs and always smiling. It was a lovely holiday in Porthcawl.

A great experience

A wonderful short holiday. Great hotel, staff exceptionally friendly and helpful. Clean rooms and public areas. Good choice in menus. Food well-cooked, hot and quickly served. Lovely resort (Exmouth) and really enjoyed the river and harbour cruises. Great value for money. First holiday with Alfa and would do another one.

Tenby - wonderful place and hotel…

Just been on a five day trip to Tenby from Tamworth. The tour very smooth, as we had 18 people getting on various tours we had a coach that picked us up from Wolves and took us directly to Tamworth. Paul drove us down which was nice as I had met him as the Robinson coaches to Shanklin 4 previous times. The weather on the whole was fine, Cliffe Norton was a great hotel and Jan the manager was very much hands on manager and the staff operated as a good team. Our room had a great Seaview. 5 days was not long enough but was a good taster and next time we will do a week. We had a great driver, Shaun from Minsterley motors. Alfa travel are you able to pass on to Misterley motors a thank you to Shaun as it was the first time in our 5 times we have gone with you that we had a contacted out driver and coach. Looking forward to Bouremouth and Blackpool later in the year.

Fantastic value for money holiday

Fantastic holiday. Transition from feeder coach was smooth. Staff at Bayshore hotel were excellent. Food very tasty. Rooms clean and beds comfortable.

New Beach Hotel

New Beach Hotel, Great Yarmouth Great Yarmouth & Broads Cruise Saturday, June, 01st 2024 - Wednesday, June, 05th 2024 We had a fantastic five days at the New Beach Hotel, Great Yarmouth the weather was mixed sunshine & showers. We departed Bowburn at 10:15am and arrived at the hotel at 05:30pm. Our Coach was a Delta Coach, our driver was called Michael, he was very helpful and friendly. we were in safe hands when he was driving. Thank you Michael for making the holiday a success. There was 48 passengers on the coach. The company on the coach were fantastic, made Friends quickly. The management at the hotel made you welcome, they were very friendly, the rooms were very clean. The waiters and the waitresses were helpful, the meals were good. Jordan was was helpful behind the bar. The entertainment was good, also the bingo it put the evening in. The trips out were Paddle Steamer & Cromer, Norwich. The Paddle Steamer was very good, We liked it very much Overall It was a fantastic holiday, the weather was kind to us, warm and sunny, had a great time. Thank you Alfa.

Alfa at their best

Modern comfortable coaches with local pickup points and friendly drivers. Some Hotels being refurbished and updated tastefully with friendly staff and a good selection of food provided.

The Cumbria Grand Hotel was very good

The Cumbria Grand Hotel was very good. The en-suite was needing the chipped bath removing and a shower unit installing. Breakfast and dinner were very good. The tours were very good. It's a pity from Cleveleys we have to go south to Burtonwood then north to Cumbria and Scotland

From start to finish we were looked after. The bus was so comfortable and looked after and our driver Robert was so nice and friendly. The hotel we stayed in was so nice and welcoming and the meals were delicious and hot and fresh. Will definitely be using this company again x

Overall great experience

The driver, Josh, was very good. He was very helpful and informative, explaining everything we needed to know. The staff at the Cumberland hotel were also excellent. When we had a health crisis they were most helpful

2 days of travel

When you use the feeder coach to the changeover hub you spend two days of a five day holiday travelling. On our changeover we were waiting for over one & half hours which made it a very long day of travel. It is best if you can be picked up somewhere on the way to your destination.

Would use Alfa Travel for future holidays

good admin with regard to coach transfers etc. comfortable coaches. pleasant drivers. Hotel excellent. worth paying for seaview. Manager exceptional and the reception and waiter service. Tour to Cardiff was good but disappointed we ended up in the shopping centre in Swansea, we had been hoping to see the Harbour and Marina. The driver usually gives information about the area but we had no idea how to find where we wanted to go.

Short break

Short break, food and entertainment A1, but journey home a nightmare. I found 10 hour journey too much. One hour break at a garden centre where the food and drink prices outrageous.mad dash to reading arriving late being given just 15 minute break before starting off on transfer coach. Fell over in a mad rush.will think twice before considering another break as the journey home spoilt the experience.

Hotel coach food service all good my only constructive criticism would be 3 days excursion people like myself (party of 3) and others expressed wanting to do the boat trip but driver said we did not have time to fit in so in all we visited 4 locations all similar but Norfolk is known for the broads.hotel receptionist kindly found bust times to boat + boat times but the bus 1hr 50 min was too long to meet morning boat and the pm boat meant not getting back till after dinner coach got us there liss than an hour. Great choice of well priced holidays

Friendly helpful driver, hotel with lovely staff serving a wide range of quality meals and very good entertainment. The included excursions gave us a good experience of the Isle of Wight. Clearer information regarding the feeder coaches and the change over at Woodall Services needs to be given ie we would be there at least 45 minutes - time to order and eat a meal. We will use Alfa again.

Changeover from Bridlington to Scarborough done professionally and seamlessly.

Despite our destination hotel being changed from Bridlington to Scarborough and with all the logistics involved, we, as passengers, had a smooth changeover. We were late for dinner but were staill able to choose from a menu and our rooms were ready and very comfortable. The trips were very good. Our journey home was delayed due to the feeder driver having an accident but we were kept informed as to how long we were going to have to wait. The feeder driver was very obliging and got us home in good time and in comfort.

London, Kew and Windsor

Couldn't fault our tour driver Alan. Hotel very good, clean comfy room . The driver on our coach dropping people off on way home( don't think was an Alpha coach employee) got lost 4 times, went down a one way street the wrong way, went to a dead end and had to reverse all the way back up, nearly had us all decapitated when he went down a road with a low bridge again he had to back up then missed the turn off for Garstang. Apart from that a very enjoyable holiday😅

Friendly staff and guests. Extremely clean hotel. Our room 120 was just what we requested. Only negative those mugs at meal times. Our good waiter managed to provide a cup.

Norfolk royale Bournemouth

Just returned from an alfa holiday based in the Norfolk Royale hotel Bournemouth. What a beautiful hotel! We had a superior room which was worth every penny, in fact it was more like a suite than a room. Fantastic staff, facilities and the food was lovely. Great excursions and our coach driver Alan was absolutely amazing. We have been using alfa for six years now and I can honestly say this holiday was the best so far.

Awful time in Blackpool for xmas … Awful time in Blackpool for xmas lights, We were at the Queens Hotel in Blackpool, we had gone onto a visit to Manchester xmas Markets all i can say is what a nightmare from the minute we left for Manchester, Avoid the trips on offer, Customer Services appear not to care about any issues, !!! i will not supply my details as i fear i will be banned from travelling with them again !! in response to Alfa Travel reply, i gave a date after we actually attended the hotel because i am afraid they would stop us using their services again by complaining, i can assure you we did encounter major issues on the day we went to the Manchester Market, we did report the issue in full to Alfa who did not appear that interested in the issue raised, Date of experience: December 2023 in response to our telephone conversation today, 23/05/2024 i felt i received the same patronising reply from Customer Services i had when i first left review on Trustpilot, we got left in Manchester miles from anywhere until the coach would return many hours later, we actually got a return train back to our hotel in Blackpool, we had a 10% offer off another booking with Alfa for our experience,!! your last reply does not compare to the conversation i had with Customer Care earlier today, i still feel they do not care about our experience !!

Hi myself and 5 friends had a wonderful holiday to Tenby. The driver of the coach Dave was really nice and helpful. The staff in the hotel were great, could not fault the food in the dining room. My room was nice but needed upgrading, shower was small, and I am not a big person. The trips out were very good. The entertainment at night was excellent. Overall we all enjoyed the holiday. Eastbourne Holiday With Alfa

Good hotel close to the pier, not far from town center, reasonable weather & 2 out of 3 days outings good. Good driver of coach. Enough to do for 2 days in Eastbourne & so total 5 days based in resort. Waitress particularly good & reception staff were helpful.

Appalling room unclean

Appalling room unclean, stained kettle, dirty marks on duvet, 2 inch line around furniture where it had not been vacuumed for a long time. Whole room substandard, bathroom so tiny, wardrobe width of one small onboard flight suitcase. Absolutely no sound proofing in the Eliot Hotel, Newquay. Management seem to have quite a reputation if you look at online reviews. Dining room has bad service depending on which waiter you get. Toast was always cold. I often waited 20 mins in between courses and was in the dining room for up to 45 minutes. Staff might as well wear a 'Do Not Disturb' sign as they do not care and customer service at Head Office is non existent. They pretend to care but excuse themselves and are willing to make up things. Would not book again. Coach driver excellent. I note Alfa's response, but I had already made a complaint in resort and to the Head office. Whilst they say they care, this is a honest and truthful review. Their reply contained lies and did not acknowledge the facts, so I responded stressing their duty to comply with basic standards of cleanliness and offer a service that is reasonable and fair and they have refused to communicate. I am proceeding to contact my credit card company for a refund under the Consumer Act and the company not having fulfilled its duty to provide a room of the same or higher standard when they moved me. Looking on here and other reviews, it appears others have had problems with this hotel for the same reasons and with the management at the hotel. It is not how I expect to be treated when I paid 505 for a week as a single person, there was supposed to be no single supplement, yet no-one else I spoke to paid as much as this. Alfa, like any other travel company, are only as good as their reputation and how they deal with complaints. I know now, that they do not deal with complaints and customer service is non existent. I have proof of what I say as I took photos.

Our recent holiday in Newquay

We enjoyed our recent holiday in Newquay. The weather could have been better and the wind whistling round the building works outside our window was incredible, but not Alfa's fault. A long journey with only one stop after Woodall, thankfully a toilet on the coach! Gloucester services a bit of a rip-off, but interesting. Unusually good food in the hotel. Trips were interesting, especially the Eden Project, not much to recommend Padstow in our opinion.

The holiday was enjoyable

The holiday was enjoyable. The hotel room and food good and coach driver, Tracy, was lovely so helpful and friendly. Downside was travelling I appreciate that the journey takes longer due to pick ups but I live 3 1/2 hours from destination but took over double that time as had to travel south to swop coaches then north again. Also coach on way to resort had a problem with door so had a further delay of 2 hours, we only arrived at destination 30 mins befor evening meal.

It was very well organised

It was very well organised, all the staff were friendly respectful and polite. The coach was comfortable and the driver Brian was polite and helpful. Waverley castle is in a beautiful setting. The hotel staff were all very good efficient , helpful and friendly. The standard of cleanliness was good, unfortunately some of the main courses at dinner time were not that good, Plenty of choice, the starters were ok, but it seemed they used instant or frozen mash and not much fish in the fish pie! I found it unusual to have to order a salad the previous day! The trips were very enjoyable.

All in all a very enjoyable trip.

From being picked up by the feeder coach in Pontefract to being dropped off, everything was nigh on perfect. Dave, our coach driver, was great. The hotel in Criccieth was lovely. Room was clean and comfy, meals varied and tasty and waitress Serena wonderful. Excursions were really good and interesting. All in all a very enjoyable trip AND I won £70 on the bingo. Yay.

Good value for money all round

Good comfortable coach except that we were not allowed to use the on board toilet due to being told that there was a 'part missing'. This proved to be most uncomfortable. Good hotel with decent food. Coach driver was very friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed the two excursions included in our trip. All round good value for money.

Edinburgh trip

Patient, informative drivers look after their passengers very well. Excursions very good 👍 One slight criticism, the Waverly Castle Hotel, Melrose, was a bit isolated, and the interior of the Hotel was a bit lacking in directions ie; Restaurant, Bar etc.

From pick-up to set-down

From pick-up to set-down, everything is done for you. No driving or parking hassle, accommodation sorted, excursions included, what's not to like? You don't even have to handle your luggage, except to unpack/repack.

Enjoyable trip

Enjoyable 5 day trip with Alfa. No problems at all. Seamless transfers, very impressed by the coach and luggage transfers. We had a contracted in coach which could have been a lot more comfortable but driver was lovely and kind. Hotel was OK, scenery and place itself was wonderful. Will definitely be booking another trip away. First time as a solo traveller with Alfa and would recommend

Pick up and journey good

Pick up and journey good, but hotel covered in scaffolding very disheartening. The room was quite good but a pipe went from floor to ceiling constantly red hot. We asked reception who said they would look into it, next day still nothing, went back to reception and was curtly told ‘we told you yesterday we would look into it’ nothing was done at all. We did not go on 1st trip and the driver Chris told everyone then that the Thursday trip time had changed to half an hour earlier but failed o tell us even though we sat with him in the dining room, consequently we missed the steam train trip.

Brilliant tour

We enjoyed our holiday with you the only complaint we have is when we picked up the tour guide for Cambridge she took us to a garden centre first why?. The hotel was lovely the food very nice and to have a tour guide for both Oxford and Cambridge was brilliant to learn all about their history and traditions.

Viv and Peter go to Wales

Alfa go out of their way to ensue that we all have the best time we can whilst in their care. From when the feeder coach picked us up we didn't have to carry our cases until they dropped us off back home. Andrew, our driver, was careful whilst driving, considerate to all our needs and always smiling. It was a lovely holiday in Porthcawl.

A great experience

A wonderful short holiday. Great hotel, staff exceptionally friendly and helpful. Clean rooms and public areas. Good choice in menus. Food well-cooked, hot and quickly served. Lovely resort (Exmouth) and really enjoyed the river and harbour cruises. Great value for money. First holiday with Alfa and would do another one.

Tenby - wonderful place and hotel…

Just been on a five day trip to Tenby from Tamworth. The tour very smooth, as we had 18 people getting on various tours we had a coach that picked us up from Wolves and took us directly to Tamworth. Paul drove us down which was nice as I had met him as the Robinson coaches to Shanklin 4 previous times. The weather on the whole was fine, Cliffe Norton was a great hotel and Jan the manager was very much hands on manager and the staff operated as a good team. Our room had a great Seaview. 5 days was not long enough but was a good taster and next time we will do a week. We had a great driver, Shaun from Minsterley motors. Alfa travel are you able to pass on to Misterley motors a thank you to Shaun as it was the first time in our 5 times we have gone with you that we had a contacted out driver and coach. Looking forward to Bouremouth and Blackpool later in the year.

New Beach Hotel, Great Yarmouth Great Yarmouth & Broads Cruise Saturday, June, 01st 2024 - Wednesday, June, 05th 2024 We had a fantastic five days at the New Beach Hotel, Great Yarmouth the weather was mixed sunshine & showers. We departed Bowburn at 10:15am and arrived at the hotel at 05:30pm. Our Coach was a Delta Coach, our driver was called Michael, he was very helpful and friendly. we were in safe hands when he was driving. Thank you Michael for making the holiday a success. There was 48 passengers on the coach. The company on the coach were fantastic, made Friends quickly. The management at the hotel made you welcome, they were very friendly, the rooms were very clean. The waiters and the waitresses were helpful, the meals were good. Jordan was was helpful behind the bar. The entertainment was good, also the bingo it put the evening in. The trips out were Paddle Steamer & Cromer, Norwich. The Paddle Steamer was very good, We liked it very much Overall It was a fantastic holiday, the weather was kind to us, warm and sunny, had a great time. Thank you Alfa.

The Cumbria Grand Hotel was very good

The Cumbria Grand Hotel was very good. The en-suite was needing the chipped bath removing and a shower unit installing. Breakfast and dinner were very good. The tours were very good. It's a pity from Cleveleys we have to go south to Burtonwood then north to Cumbria and Scotland

From start to finish we were looked after. The bus was so comfortable and looked after and our driver Robert was so nice and friendly. The hotel we stayed in was so nice and welcoming and the meals were delicious and hot and fresh. Will definitely be using this company again x

Overall great experience

The driver, Josh, was very good. He was very helpful and informative, explaining everything we needed to know. The staff at the Cumberland hotel were also excellent. When we had a health crisis they were most helpful

2 days of travel

When you use the feeder coach to the changeover hub you spend two days of a five day holiday travelling. On our changeover we were waiting for over one & half hours which made it a very long day of travel. It is best if you can be picked up somewhere on the way to your destination.

good admin with regard to coach transfers etc. comfortable coaches. pleasant drivers. Hotel excellent. worth paying for seaview. Manager exceptional and the reception and waiter service. Tour to Cardiff was good but disappointed we ended up in the shopping centre in Swansea, we had been hoping to see the Harbour and Marina. The driver usually gives information about the area but we had no idea how to find where we wanted to go.
