Have you heard of the Ferrytale Fireworks: A Sparkling Dessert Cruise ? We are BIG fans of the Magic Kingdom Dessert Parties that you can book inside the park and we honestly had high hopes for this one, too. Alas, let’s just say… it didn’t exactly meet the mark.

But before we get too far into our honest review, let’s go over everything you need to know about the Ferrytale Fireworks: A Sparkling Dessert Cruise, including pricing, what’s included, and what you can expect to be served. After that, we’ll get into the nitty-gritty, and we’ll tell you our thoughts on whether or not the Ferrytale Fireworks cruise is worth it.

What is the Ferrytale Fireworks: A Sparkling Dessert Cruise and where is it located?

Like other Magic Kingdom Dessert Parties , the Ferrytale Fireworks dessert cruise allows you to watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks while dining on a range of desserts and beverages (both non-alcoholic and alcoholic).

But, unlike the parties that happen inside the park, this one takes place on a ferryboat that sails on the Seven Seas Lagoon just outside the entrance of Magic Kingdom. While it sounds enchanting, it doesn’t quite capture the grandeur you’d experience land-side. Reflections on the lagoon and distant firework sounds are a different experience, and not necessarily the magical one you might expect.

How much does the Ferrytale Fireworks: A Sparkling Dessert Cruise cost?

This dessert party is not cheap.

The Ferrytale Fireworks: A Sparkling Dessert Cruise costs (tax and gratuity is included):

• $130 per adult
• $80 per child (ages 3 to 9)

In comparison, the ones inside the park range from $99 – $109 per adult and $59 per child up for a reserved standing location, to $119 – $129 for adults and $75 per child for a reserved seated location.

Of course, you’d have to have a park ticket to book one of the parties inside Magic Kingdom, but you’d also get a much, much better view of the fireworks.

What is included?

Lanyards & mickey vision glasses.

Upon check in, all guests are given a lanyard that lights up with “Mickey Vision” glasses. You simply hold them up (if you’d like) and any type of lighting will be transformed into Mickeys!

The lanyards are a cute addition and the kids seemed to like them. However, the lights were really bright and we kept ours turned off.

Scavenger hunt

On the ship, there is also a little scavenger hunt for kids (and adults).

It helped to pass the time while we were waiting for the show to start and was a cute little addition to the trip.

Electrical Water Pageant Viewing

On nights when the Electrical Water Pageant ‘s schedule overlaps with the Ferrytale Fireworks Cruise, as long as the waters are safe, you’ll be positioned in a great spot to watch it before the fireworks begin.

Desserts and Drinks

Now for the important part: the drinks and desserts!

Before we dive in, it’s important to note that if you or anyone in your party has any dietary restrictions, you should indicate so when booking online . In addition, be sure to notify a Cast Member, server, chef, or manager on duty of any dietary restrictions when arriving.

Of course, menu items can change, but you can expect a selection to include similar offerings to what we had.

• Pre-cruise beverage (both with and without alcohol options available)
• Coffee and Hot Tea
• Watermelon mojito
• Watermelon margarita
• Assorted beer
• Assorted wine (both white and red)

• Donuts and donut toppings bar (with an assortment of sauces and toppings like Dole Whip and Churro)
• Passionfruit panna cotta
• Rainbow popcorn
• Brownie bites
• Strawberry pops
• Cherry cream puff
• Orange cheesecake
• Key lime macaron
• Assorted cheeses
• Assorted nuts

How do you book it?

You can begin booking the Ferrytale Fireworks: A Sparkling Dessert Cruise online or in the My Disney Experience app 60 days in advance.

Important: This particular dessert party cruise is only available on select Wednesday and Saturday nights, so you’ll want to plan accordingly. Same-day reservations can be made before 5 p.m. on a limited basis and are subject to availability.

Full payment is due at the time of booking. There is a one-day cancellation policy, meaning the full price will be charged/forfeited if you don’t cancel within one-day or are a “no-show.”

How does check in work?

To board the ferryboat, you will need to check in for the dessert cruise at the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC) to the left of the Ferryboat launch.

The TTC is the transportation hub for all of Walt Disney World . This is where you park if you drive to Magic Kingdom. It is also the only place you can catch (or transfer to) the monorail to Epcot. If you plan to take a taxi or Uber/Lyft to Magic Kingdom, this is the official drop-off spot for that, as well as being the place where some of the offsite buses drop off guests for Magic Kingdom. 

The boat sets sail 50 minutes before the fireworks, and there will be no further boarding at that time. You need to make sure you arrive on time or else the boat will leave you.

When you arrive, look for the signs to the left of the walkway down to the boats.

You’ll check in and get your lanyard, which not only lights up, but also has your “Mickey View” goggles attached to it.

The holding area is covered and has some bench seating. Plus, while you wait, they give you a drink (options both with and without alcohol are available).

How is the view from Seven Seas Lagoon?

Now the tricky part – the view.

The view of the castle from the water isn’t bad. You’ll be able to see all the fireworks from this vantage point.

The boat has 2 levels, and the view from the top was definitely the best (and where we recommend you view the fireworks). Not only are the windows more wide open, the extra height helps you clear any trees that might be in the way:

Compare that to the view from the bottom, where the window openings are a lot smaller:

As you can see in the pictures, the projections aren’t really visible. You can see that they are there, you just can’t really SEE them (if that makes sense).

During the show, you are welcome to move around if you need to. Our cruise was only partially full so there was plenty of room upstairs for everyone to watch the show.

And yes – the music is piped in onto the boat . BUT, on our cruise, the sound cut out a few times (which was annoying).

Is the Ferrytale Fireworks cruise accessible?

Yes, those using wheelchairs and ECVs can be accommodated. Strollers are also permitted.

Is the Ferrytale Fireworks: A Sparkling Dessert Cruise worth it?

Now the hard part – is the Ferrytale Fireworks: A Sparkling Dessert Cruise worth it?

Unfortunately, we don’t think so and here are the 2 main reasons why:

• Value for Money : Firstly, as lovely as the desserts were, we don’t think the overall experience justifies the cost. For that price, we could have had a top-tier meal at some of Disney’s best restaurants – including California Grill, where we could have had an equally good view of the fireworks from their observation deck. • View : Even though the fireworks are the main attraction, we felt the views from the boat were somewhat obstructed. It didn’t feel as magical as standing right in front of the castle or on Main Street. You can’t really see Tink or the projections. It was a good view – but it wasn’t GREAT.

But, while the Ferrytale Fireworks Dessert Cruise wasn’t a great fit for us, there are some people who might like it:

• People who love the fireworks, but hate the crowds. Our boat was not crowded at all, which would be perfect for anybody who prefers to have space.
• People who are sensitive to the sounds of the fireworks. Disney fireworks aren’t super loud, but things are even quietier out on the water.
• Groups who want to see the fireworks but don’t have a park ticket. Although we think you’d be better served spending your money on a dinner at a Magic Kingdom area restaurant, if you can’t get a reservation or just prefer the idea of being on a boat, then this dessert party might be for you.

Other important details

What happens if there is bad weather.

The Ferrytale Fireworks cruise will still occur in inclement weather , but may be modified or canceled due to extreme weather conditions.

Fireworks at Magic Kingdom may be changed or canceled without prior notice due to inclement weather.

Are restrooms on board?

Yes, there are restrooms for event guests to utilize. But – they are “marine” restrooms, and our experience with them was not great. If people read the instructions, they probably are fine in a pinch, but we’d recommend using the bathroom right next to the check-in location before boarding.

Do you need theme park tickets?

No, theme park admission is not required for this experience.

Start by checking in at the Transportation and Ticket Center, where you’ll be greeted with a refreshing beverage before setting sail. Then let the ferryboat’s crew regale you with an entertaining backstory of the vessel’s magic.

Once you cast off, the celebration continues with a stellar selection of bite-size signature treats, from KABOOM! Cupcakes and Rocket Burst Popcorn Push Ups to Red Velvet Wow! Pie and Grand Finale Key Lime Tarts. You can even Build Your Own Mousse. All this alongside a bevy of specialty drinks—either with or without alcohol—themed to the sparkling, shooting stars of the fireworks. For the kiddos, there’s also an ultraviolet scavenger hunt. One of my favorite special experiences – The Ferrytale Fireworks Cruise is once again open for bookings for reservations on or after September 18, 2021 . 

Climb aboard one of Disney World’s most iconic ferryboats to enjoy a memorable evening watching the Magic Kingdom fireworks over the Seven Seas Lagoon. 

Guests start by checking in at the Ticket and Transportation Center where you’ll enjoy a refreshing beverage before setting sail.  During this time you’ll learn about the colorful history of this amazing Ferry Boat.

You’ll cast off in celebration prior to the fireworks where you can indulge in an amazing spread of bite-sized treats exclusive to the dessert party. Some of our favorites include the KABOOM! Cupcakes, Rocket Burst Popcorn Push Ups, Red Velvet WOW! Pie and Key Lime tarts.  There’s even a “Build Your Own Mousse” bar!

Both regular and alcoholic specialty drinks are also available during your sailing.

Check-in takes place at the Disney World Transportation and Ticket Center to the left of the Ferryboat launch 15 minutes prior to the event time (which is typically 50 minutes before the fireworks are scheduled to begin). Guests may park at the Magic Kingdom parking lot to access the Transportation and Ticket Center.

The Ferrytale Fireworks Cruise takes place on select nights (primarily Wednesday and Friday or Saturday evenings) . Start time varies based on the evening’s fireworks schedule, with the boat setting sail 50 minutes before the fireworks begin. Projections and lasers help to tell a story on the face of Cinderella Castle and on the buildings of Main Street U.S.A., turning both into a giant, beautiful screens. These projections are animations created by some of the same animators who make the beautiful Disney movies we know and love.

The 18 minute show also features a musical score with contemporary versions of popular Disney songs, and a brand new song created just for Happily Ever After. On top of all of this, are the unforgettable fireworks that light up the night sky! Happily Ever After closes out the day at the Magic Kingdom. Happily Ever After Viewing Locations

Main Street USA

Most guests watch Happily Ever After from Main Street USA in front of Cinderella Castle. This location centers the castle around the fireworks and provides an excellent view of the projections and lighting effects.  Some guests grab a spot an hour before the performance, while others will simply walk up as it is time for the show to begin. If your intention is to be able to get out of the park quickly after Happily Ever After, then it is best to head towards the train station for your viewing location, just be aware that the lights on this end of Main Street are not turned off during the fireworks.

For a view with less hassle, Guests may also want to consider booking a fireworks dessert party .

Locations outside of Magic Kingdom

Happily Ever After can not only be viewed inside the Magic Kingdom, but also outside the park. For guests who do not have park tickets for the day this is an excellent opportunity to take advantage of watching the nighttime fireworks without a park ticket .

Happily Ever After can be viewed from the beaches of the Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort . The show can be seen from the Ticket and Transportation Center as well. Oh and if you are able to time it perfectly, you can actually view Happily Ever After while on the Ferryboat between the Ticket and Transportation Center and the Magic Kingdom.

Another popular option is to view Happily Ever After from California Grill or ‘Ohana . By making a dining reservation at one of these locations, you can view the fireworks from the restaurant. The only caveat about viewing the show from outside the park is that most of the lighting effects and projections on and around Cinderella Castle will not be clearly seen, however, fireworks can be seen from all of these locations.

FerryTale Fireworks: A Sparkling Dessert Cruise

The FerryTale Fireworks: A Sparkling Dessert Party allows Guests to board a ferry boat and watch the fireworks. Guests will enjoy specialty desserts and specialty beverages (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) on the ferryboat. The evening’s fireworks soundtrack will play on the boat as guests watch the fireworks.

In addition to desserts and drinks, the Ferrytale Fireworks Dessert Cruise also offers fun activities such as a Glow-in-the-Dark Scavenger Hunt, where you’ll search for Hidden Mickeys throughout the Ferryboat. Then when the fireworks begin, you’ll be able to use a pair of “Mickey Vision” viewing lenses, through which you might just be able to see one of your favorite characters appear in each burst of light!

• Rocket Burst Popcorn Push Ups
• Red Velvet Wow! Pie
• Build your own Chocolate Mousse

The cruises take place on select Wednesday and Saturday evenings. The cost is $130 per adult and $80 for children ages 3-9 plus tax and gratuity. Discounts do not apply. Reservation times for the FerryTale Fireworks cruise are one hour prior to the scheduled fireworks time. Guests check-in at the Ferryboat launch at the Ticket and Transportation Center. If arriving by car, park in the Magic Kingdom lot . Check-in will begin 15 minutes prior to reservation time.

Guests can book this option online at www.disneyworld.com/dine or at call 407-WDW-DINE. Capacity is limited. Seating is limited but wheelchairs and ECVs can be accommodated. Advance reservations are strongly recommended. Annual Passholders can apply a discount by calling 407 WDW-DINE and Disney Vacation Club Members can apply a discount by calling Member Services.

Happily Ever After Fireworks Dessert Party Information and Options

Enhance your Happily Ever After experience with the Magic Kingdom Dessert Party. Enjoy a selection of delicious desserts before settling into a reserved viewing area for the nighttime fireworks. There are different packages available, each offering unique dining and viewing experiences to suit your preferences. Magic Kingdom park visitors can attend the Happily Ever After Fireworks Dessert Party for an additional fee. This event takes place most nights at the Tomorrowland Terrace and includes reserved viewing for “Happily Ever After,” as well as a self-serve dessert buffet. There are 3 options for this Dessert Party – “Treats and Seats” , the Dessert Pre-Party, or the Dessert After-Party.

Dessert Pre-Party

This dessert party begins 90 minutes prior to the nightly fireworks. There will be plenty of time to enjoy unlimited desserts and beverages at the buffet. Then guests will travel to a reserved Plaza Gardens viewing area to stand and watch the fireworks with an unobstructed view. This viewing area provides a nice view of the show.

Dessert After-Party

With the After Fireworks Dessert Party, Guests will be able to experience the Happily Ever After fireworks from a special viewing area in the Plaza Garden. Afterwards, Guests will head to the Tomorrowland Terrace Restaurant to enjoy delicious desserts.

“Treats and Seats” with Tomorrowland Terrace Priority Seating View

This Fireworks Dessert Party begins nightly one hour prior to “Happily Ever After“ (or other seasonal fireworks) and continues through the fireworks display with staggered seating times. Those who reserve the earliest get the best seating. Tables are assigned with name tags. Once checked in, a Cast Member will escort your party to your table. The area seats approximately 170 people. When checked in, Guests are provided with a wristband. This allows them to leave the area should they need to and then be allowed to return. Overall, the view is no-hassle, above average, and provides the perfect vantage point to see Tinker Bell fly from the castle and glide directly overhead.

The Desserts

The buffet is all you care to eat and drink and offers the following items below.  There are also items for guests with special dietary needs–just ask a cast member for assistance. Guests should include dietary restrictions when making the reservation.

Reservations for all three of these options are highly recommended. To make an advance reservation call (407) WDW-DINE or make  Advance Dining Reservations online. This event is scheduled no more than than 30 to 60 days out. Recently, however, Disney has begun making it available up to 6 months out. When dates do open, it’s generally an entire month at a time. The Fireworks Dessert Party can also be reserved through any Guest Relations, Resort Concierge or Table Service dining location.

Prices for “Treats and Seats” with Tomorrowland Terrace Priority Seating:

• $119-$129, tax-included (ages 10 and above)
• $59, tax-included (ages 3-9)

Price does not include park admission.

Note:  On occasion, Happily Ever After may be replaced with another fireworks display in honor of a holiday or hard ticket event. If this is to occur, the Fireworks Dessert Party, if it will be offered, will take place as scheduled one hour prior to its replacement show.

Pre-payment is required for advance reservation. There is a 24-hour advance cancellation. If the fireworks are canceled due to inclement weather, there are no refunds. Seating is limited (160 people maximum). Walk-ups will be accept on a first-come, first-serve basis in the event that advance reservations are not sold out. Separate park admission to Magic Kingdom Park is required. Happily Ever After Fun Facts and Historical Information

• Happily Ever After originally debuted May 12, 2017.
• The show was initially retired to make way for Disney Enchantment . However, due to the show’s popularity, Happily Ever After returned following Disney Enchantment’s run.
• The show features more lighting and projection effects than any other fireworks show the Magic Kingdom has ever had before.
• Wishes debuted on October 9, 2003 replacing Fantasy in the Sky.
• Wishes featured 683 individual fireworks.
• Wishes was narrated by Jiminy Crickett and featured references to 10 classic Disney films.
• Wishes featured fireworks set to music with a story line about the Disney heroes battling the Disney villains.
• A high point of the Wishes show occurred when Tinkerbell flew from Cinderella Castle to land in Tomorrowland.
• The Wishes fireworks show lasted approximately 12 minutes.

Dessert and A Show! Ferrytale Fireworks: A Sparkling Dessert Party Returns

Walt Disney World Resort Guests can once again enjoy desserts and fireworks! That’s because beginning today, reservations are once again available for Ferrytale Fireworks: A Sparkling Dessert Cruise. The Ferrytale Fireworks: A Sparkling Dessert Cruise invites Guests to sail out on one of Disney’s most iconic ferryboats for an unforgettable evening on the Seven Seas Lagoon featuring delicious treats and stunning fireworks views.

Guests will start the evening by checking in at the Transportation and Ticket Center. Here you’ll get a refreshing beverage before setting sail. You’ll also get to hear the backstory of the vessel.

Once you cast off, Guests will be able to enjoy bite-size signature treats, like KABOOM! Cupcakes and Rocket Burst Popcorn Push Ups to Red Velvet Wow! Pie and Grand Finale Key Lime Tarts. You can even Build Your Own Mousse. There will also be specialty drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. For the kiddos, there will be an ultraviolet scavenger hunt.

At the time of the fireworks, Guests will be able to grab a spot on the railing and don  “Mickey Vision” glasses which will transform your fireworks viewing experience.

The cost of the Ferrytale Fireworks: A Sparkling Dessert Cruise is $99 for adults and $69 for children ages 3 to 9 (tax and gratuity included). It even includes a special takeaway surprise. The cruise takes place on select nights beginning September 18.

Ferrytale Fireworks: A Sparkling Dessert Cruise will officially be making its magical return on September 18, 2021, just under two weeks before Happily Ever After makes its grand finale and the all-new  Disney Enchantment  nighttime spectacular makes its grand debut at Magic Kingdom.

Below is the official description of the Ferrytale Fireworks dessert party , offering delicious desserts and amazing views of the fireworks displayed in Magic Kingdom Park.

As you may have heard by now, “Happily Ever After” is about to go into Disney history with the last chance to see the show coming soon on September 29. My group was so excited to participated in this event but unfortunately it was a big disappointment. You meet at the transportation center and you get a snack before you get on the boat. Once on the boat there are desserts on the lower level. If your on the lower level it's hard to hear the fun facts that the captain is talking about. They give out special mickey glasses which are very cool when looking at the fireworks. The entire experience is cool but not worth the $100 per person price tag.

Party of 2, we were very excited to try something new at WDW. Upon arrival we were greeted and asked if we were staying at a WDW resort or "off campus", to make sure there would be transportation for us after the event. There is a bus that goes to all resorts to make sure everyone has a ride "home". You are given a booklet about the cruise and a special pin, then you are shown to the holding area and served sparkling cider in a lighted glass and dish, yours to keep after the cruise. You also receive a blinky light necklace!! When the time comes you board the steam boat and set sail around Seven Seas Lagoon while the captain tells you some fun facts about the World and the resorts around the lagoon. There is also a cute game that people can play with flashlights(which are supplied) to find hidden mickeys and solve a quiz. You get transportation playing cards as a gift. Desserts are out buffet style on both decks, with drinks on both levels as well. Food is just ok, drinks too, and in small supply, I thought. When something was gone it was not replenished. The desserts are featured from the resorts around the lagoon? Should probably go with some standard goodies in addition to the featured desserts. There is also a cast member that brings around mickey ice cream selections. My daughter was playing the flashlight game and missed out on a lot of desserts, she wound up with 2 small cupcakes and a mickey ice cream bar. The desserts were gone before the fireworks started! Now, we stayed on the bottom deck and I did not venture to the upper, as we met friends there and one had a scooter that could not go on top deck. I gave this an 8 as we had fun on the boat with our friends and it was nice to see the fireworks from a different view. As always the Disney staff on board were helpful, friendly and fabulous! Disney should lower the price.

When I first heard about the fireworks cruise it sounded like so much fun but I was hesitant to book because of the cost, after much discussion we decided to go for it and book the cruise and I’m so glad we did! From the moment you arrive at the dock the cast members are there to greet you and explain the trip and menu to you. You are given a few souvenirs for the evening, including a pin, light up champagne glass and a plate. There is a cool game you can play if you want, it’s for all ages but it seemed to keep the kids busy on the cruise before the fireworks started. There were drinks are desserts on the first level and desserts only on the second level. There were a number of dessert stations so the lines were never long. There were several types of cheeses and desserts, also at the beginning of the cruise there were meats on the trays but the meats went quickly and were never replaced, the rest of the food was replenished throughout the event. The cupcakes and mango panna cotta were good; the spiced flourless chocolate lacked spiced and seemed way undercooked (it may have been the chocolate cake didn’t hold up well in the heat). Parents beware – the pineapple upside down cake comes with a tiny shooter of alcohol. The specialty alcoholic drink tasted watered down but it was a warm night, beer and wine and soda were also available. The view of the fireworks is great and even though the evening was sold out, the boat did not feel crowded. This almost made the cruise worth the price alone after dealing with the crowds while watching the fireworks in the parks. There is limited seating on the boat and if you’re on the second level, you must walk up and down the stairs for drinks. Once back on land, there are buses to take you to your resort. We had a very enjoyable evening even if the desserts are just okay, but it’s a nice break from being part of the zombie herd shuffling around the parks all day.
