“FRONTIERS TOUR 1983” where the glory was extremely successful. That superb sound board album is appearing in permanent preservation press CD. It is contained in this work “Philadelphia Performance June 4, 1983”. This show is a historic big big show that gathered about 90,000 at the huge venue JFK stadium. It is a symbolic concert in the history of JOURNEY that it became an official image “FRONTIERS …. AND BEYOND!”. Speaking of “FRONTIERS TOUR”, I also remember Japanese performance and super board soundboard “NORMAN 1983: PRE-FM MASTER (Zion-106)” in memory. Let’s first check the position of the show from the whole picture of the world tour.

“February 22” FRONTIERS “release” · February 22 – March 4: Japan (8 shows) · March 28 – May 8: North America # 1 (29 shows) · May 13 – June 5: North America # 2 (18 shows) ← ★ Coco ★ · June 10 – 26: North America # 3 (13 performances) · July 1 – 31: North America # 4 (23 performances) ← “NORMAN 1983” · August 5 – 21: North America # 5 12 performances) · September 1 – 6: Hawaii (5 shows)

This is a glorious tour. Because Japan is barely called “the world”, other than the United States only. This work of Philadelphia was a concert that was the final stage of such “North America # 2”. As this show was the biggest stage in the whole world, it also broadcasts the famous radio program “SUPERSTARS IN CONCERT”. I have reigned as a big staple since ancient times. This work is the best live album. Digitized directly from the finest broadcast masterplate that was discovered only recently. Ultimate generation is completely different in dimension from many air check checks, and dubbing traces and aged deterioration are zero. Although the original sound is currently being talked about on the net, this work has also been brushed up with the latest / latest remastering. To tell the truth, this broadcast was originally somewhat missing, the most tasty vocal and guitar growth was now. Even the truly broadcast master disc does not change the recorded sound itself. In this work, we arrange such original sound carefully and improve the clearness better. We realized a beautiful sound that also allows official release. It is overnight engraved as a vertex in the history of glory that is drawn with that quality. This day is a big event with Brian Adams, THE TUBES, Sammy Hager and John Cougar. That’s why it is a short set, so we showcase the golden super-famous songs by concentration reduction. It is a pleasant place of “After The Fall” “Lovin ‘, Touchin’, Squeezin ‘” which I could not even listen to the Daimyo board “NORMAN 1983: PRE-FM MASTER”. The more dazzling, the enthusiasm for the big stage in the century. A crowd of about 90,000 people …… No, I challenged the big crowd, and the performances that are united with each other are terrible. Although the pattern was felt even in the official video “FRONTIERS …. AND BEYOND!”, This work is much longer than that, “Line Of Fire” “Edge Of The Blade” “Do not Stop Believin ‘” “Lovin ‘, Touchin’, Squeezin ‘” and plenty of it. Among them, “Faithfully” is a big impression. In the official video, it was replaced with a promo video, but this work is properly live. A yellow loud voice explodes in a beautiful intro and the singing voice of Steve Perry reverberates proudly as the explosive sound of the fireworks roars. Although it is a masterpiece approaching the chest whenever you listen to it, it’s a pride in singing voice because it’s a big hit straight because it’s a passion that can not be held down by enthusiasm, and it takes a whole body of it. Just a few days ago the winter Olympic Games ended, but the gold medal is the most dazzling thing with a wonderful acting and exciting awaiting ceremony of world record. This work is the same as that. Even the same song and the same melody are overflowing with the glow that exists only in “1983”, only the JFK stadium with about 90 thousand people in front of me is dazzling.

JFK stadium performance which became a highlight during highlighting even during the biggest heyday. It is the highest peak soundboard album ever. Overnight where shining famous songs were the most dazzling. Its historic highest peak record. It is one special piece among all music left by JOURNEY. Permanent preservation Press CD is emerging.

AND BEYOND!”

私が大名盤「NORMAN 1983:PRE-FM MASTER」を聞くことさえできなかった「After The Fall」「Lovin ‘、Touchin’、Squeezin ‘」の楽しい場所です。

Released exclusively on VHS and LaserDisc and has NEVER been released on DVD until NOW!

This REMASTERED DVD is sourced directly from the original high quality LaserDisc to DVD for the first time ever! Quality is unmatched as it transferred from the long since deleted LaserDisc from OVER THIRTY SEVEN years ago. Another original offer from your team at MVR!

Background: It is important to note: Songs for “Don’t Stop Belevin’” and “Faithfully“ were omitted from the VHS version of this classic concert. Only the LaserDisc release has these two rare gems from the original concert. This extended edition results in a extended concert and documentary that last nearly TWO HOURS compared to the VHS release length of the concert of only 98 minutes. The exclusive Japanese only LaserDisc release is 1 Hour 50 Minutes…….

Description: Multi-platinum recording group JOURNEY blends the innovative sounds of it’s most recent LP at the time, “Frontiers”, with intimate visuals and film footage from the group’s record breaking 1983 world tour. Filmed by Emmy Award-winning N F L Films and narrated by John Facenda, “the voice of the N F L.” And if you loved the videos for “Faithfully” and “Send Her my Love,” you’ll recognize the footage.

FRONTIERS…AND BEYOND!, an entertaining, inside look at life on the road is an intimate look at the band and their life on the road, includes in-depth interviews with all band members and crew, a real in-depth look at what it takes to put together such an enormous tour. This short documentary also features a look back at the history that lead them to this monster album “Frontiers”  and the tour that followed in 1983. Great rare tour footage for any JOURNEY/STEVE PERRY collector!

DVD Menu divides content as “Side 1” and “Side 2” to mimic the content style of the original LaserDisc

For any Journey fan this is as good as it gets! The transfer from laser disc to DVD is superb, bar none. Since this is the imported Laser disc version from japan, it is the full version of the documentary/concert not the edited one found on the VHS here in the US or re-release on short lived DVD version. The one thing that i will address is that since the laser disc is from japan, it does have closed caption permanently on and can not be disabled but, the audio is in English. Don’t let this stop you from getting this awesome DVD. It just brings authenticity to the transfer from laser disc to DVD. Thank you MVR for sharing this, at long lost, highly sought after gem.

A must have for any true Journey / Steve Perry fan! Over the years I’ve had several “copies” plus, the original VHS of this documentary and now this one from the guys at Music Video Resource. This remaster DVD, by far is the best video quality I have come across!

Eugene Davis (verified owner) – September 25, 2020

Great DVD for all JOURNEY fans. Service was awesome as usual. Great remastering of this classic stage of the bands career. Thank you for offering this rare item at this great website.

Terrence Gilbert (verified owner) – January 14, 2021

I can’t say enough how happy I am with DVD. The specific reason I purchased it was because it has concert footage from the June 4, 1983 Philadelphia concert. The inclusion of ‘Don’t stop Believing’ was as it is in the ‘Frontiers and Beyond’ Documentary as well as the Director’s Cut.

In addition it contains John Facenda narrating. The ’83 Philly concert contained Faithfully which eventually was released as a music video. This concert has so much personal meaning for me and my wife, as it’s where we met some 38 years ago watching our all-time favorite band at the height of their career. We will cherish that memory til the day we die. To find this DVD with the concert and the band playing our two most favorite songs – ‘Don’t Stop Believing’ and ‘Faithfully’ – was just amazing for us.

Fortunately, I can only give this review (5) stars. If I could, I give it a (10) for being a complete product plus a product of quality.

Daniel Alustiza (verified owner) – May 29, 2021

As mentioned, in another review, there are Japanese subtitles with the commentary, so don’t think it’s a setting with your DVD player, when playing back. This is an awesome DVD! Anyone who has seen the Journey Greatest Hits DVD, will see where some of the video footage comes from for that DVD, most likely being this Philadelphia concert. The song “Faithfully” is not a concert video, as it appears to be the same video on the Greatest Hits DVD, which I believe was a MTV video release, but the whole DVD still kicks ass! There are songs on this DVD that are NOT on the Greatest Hits DVD.

What an AMAZING weekend!!! First of all hats off to the Hard Rock Hotel for making JOURNEY feel so special. The best concert we've been too. It was the last day of a 9 day tour and we were amazed at how strong their voices were and the amount of energy they had. The band members seem to enjoy performing and Arnel interacts wonderfully with the fans.

Stations map

We have installed wayfinding signage from all four train stations to the stadium.

Please refer to the digital wayfinding signs as you leave the stadium to your chosen station.

Please plan your walking route back to the stations as access routes into the stations are normally different due to post-concert queue management arrangements. Please listen to the advice of stewards and station staff.

Note: Unfortunately, Journey was mercilessly booed by The Rolling Stones fans, but they carried on despite the poor audience reaction. The band played a truncated set compared to the following night’s performance.

Hersheypark Stadium celebrates 85 years with a full concert lineup

I f there's one thing I can attest to, it's how great concerts are at Hersheypark Stadium . While I've only been a few, I've always had a magical time .

First of all as a huge Jonas Brothers fan, I've seen them every time at Hersheypark Stadium and that was the stadium I was at when I met them. Even though the brothers aren't on tour this year, there are plenty of other great acts coming to Hersheypark Stadium.

I also wanted to show some love to the stadium as it's celebrating being open for 85 years. You can find all the info in the post shared by the HersheyPa website . However, I was shocked to learn that Hersheypark Stadium wasn't intended solely for concerts at first as it was used for sporting events including football games and even, racing events.

The other thing I found most interesting is that the stadium's highest-grossing show was in 2022 and it was for Lady Gaga. It's clear Mother Monster has her fans and so do The Rolling Stones, Def Leppard/ Motley Crue, Paul McCartney, and Guns N' Roses.

Hersheypark Stadium has an incredible concert lineup for 2024.

Aside from just being a great venue, Hersheypark Stadium also attracts some big names and 2024 is no different. Already this year, Hersheypark Stadium has hosted Morgan Wallen with Nate Smith and Lauren Watkins. No doubt that concert was completely packed and full of so many country music fans.

That's just the start of Hersheypark Stadium's concert season as on June 15th, Stevie Nicks will be performing. On June 28th, HPS will be hosting Hootie and the Blowfish who are joined by Edwin McCain and Collective Soul. While June is a pretty quiet month for Hersheypark Stadium, things really kick off in July.

On July 4th, Justin Timberlake will take the stage on his Forget Tomorrow World Tour. No doubt that's going to be a packed show. We can only hope the sweetest stadium on Earth decides to host NSYNC when they announce a reunion tour. Janet Jackson hits the stage on July 6th and she is joined by Nelly. Those two are bound to put on an amazing show.

The Outlaw Music Festival rolls into town on July 7th featuring some talented artists such as Willie Nelson, Allison Krauss, and Bob Dylan among others. Rounding out July, the stadium is hosting the Foo Fighters along with The Hives and Amyl and the Sniffers on July 23rd. The final show for July is on July 25th and that's Journey and Def Leppard with The Steve Miller Band.

August proves to be another packed month for Hersheypark Stadium as there are concerts for fans of all ages. First on August 2nd is Five Finger Death Punch who are joined by Marilyn Manson and Slaughter to Prevail. Then on August 3rd, you can enjoy New Kids on the Block with Paula Abdul and DJ Jazzy Jeff. Skipping ahead to August 10th, Hersheypark Stadium is welcoming Green Day, Smashing Pumpkins, Rancid and The Linda Lindas.

The month finishes with 2 concerts back-to-back. First is Creed with 3 Doors Down and Finger Eleven on August 23rd. The following night on August 24th, Pitbull and T-Pain take the stage. Lastly, on October 1st, you can head to Hersheypark Stadium to see P!NK, Sheryl Crow, The Script, and KidCutUp. I don't know about you, but it feels like there are plenty of concerts for fans of all music to enjoy at Hersheypark Stadium.

Will you be heading to any concerts at Hersheypark Stadium? Let us know!

The Great Concert Ticket Bust

Big musical acts are canceling tours. Are Taylor Swift and Beyoncé the only artists who can sell out shows?

journey concert jfk stadium

It's probably really great to be Jennifer Lopez . Of my running mental list of people whose lives seem absolutely awesome, she easily falls within the top 10. But just because she lives a charmed life doesn't mean things go great all of the time, and, lately, things have been a little less than ideal for the actor/singer/dancer from the Bronx. Her relationship with Ben Affleck is said to be on the rocks, and beyond any personal woes, she's got professional pains, too. Namely, JLo is apparently having a hard time selling tickets.

Lopez announced a tour to support her new album ( and truly wild accompanying movie ), "This Is Me … Now," earlier this year, but she wound up canceling a bunch of dates amid weak sales. She then rebranded the tour as a greatest-hits show, but fans still weren't tripping over themselves to see her. At the end of May, JLo decided to cancel her tour , saying she was "heartsick" but needed to spend time with her family and friends.

In JLo's defense, she's not the only one having trouble packing venues. The rock duo The Black Keys scrapped a planned arena tour and are expected to announce a "revised" set of dates at smaller venues. On social media, fans have noted that some shows from the pop artists Troye Sivan and Charli XCX as well as the band Wallows appear to be undersold. The Latin trap artist Bad Bunny recently pulled out of a show in Minneapolis, reportedly amid weak sales. Coachella lagged this year, and there's been chatter about a variety of acts not hitting home runs sales-wise in some instances and locations, including Cardi B, Justin Timberlake, and Pink.

This doesn't mean the entire concert industry is in disarray. Taylor Swift is unstoppable . As is Beyoncé whenever she is on the road. Acts such as Luke Combs, Zach Bryan, and Olivia Rodrigo are selling a ton. Dead & Company, the successor band to the Grateful Dead, is adding dates at the Las Vegas Sphere. Live Nation, which owns Ticketmaster and rules the roost in the live-events space, had a huge 2023, estimating that 145 million fans attended more than 50,000 events, a 20% increase in fans over the year before. However, not everything is going smoothly for everyone. For some artists, conditions aren't so favorable, and they're struggling to pull in the crowds they anticipated, at least right out of the gate.

"Concert promotion is a betting business. You don't always win. And sometimes, you can be humbled," said Jarred Arfa, the head of global music at Independent Artist Group, whose client roster includes Billy Joel, 50 Cent, and Metallica.

Ticket prices are just astronomical right now.

There are a combination of factors that are dragging down some artists' ticket sales. For one thing, a lot of acts are on tour at the moment. In the wake of the pandemic, artists have been eager to get back out there and recoup lost time and money. Even if the return hasn't been smooth , basically anyone who can be touring is, meaning the space is crowded and oversaturated.

Related stories

"You'd never before had a moment in time where all the horses lined up at the starting gate and they all went out on the road at the same time," said Gary Witt, the CEO and co-owner of The Pabst Theater Group in Milwaukee.

The world really is your oyster right now when it comes to catching a show. But it also means that people have a ton of options, and there is only so much time to go around. Maybe you already saw your favorite artist when they first went on the road after the worst of COVID passed, and you don't feel especially inspired to go see them again. Or you like the band or singer in question plenty, but not enough to go through all the rigamarole of seeing them live. Either way, the once feverish demand for that ticket has probably cooled.

Pricing is also a factor. Anyone who's looked for concert tickets recently has probably been gobsmacked at the cost. Many consumers have been spending through inflation , even if begrudgingly so, but no one's budget is limitless, especially as prices for basically everything — including tickets to live events — remain elevated. Pollstar calculated that the average ticket price for the top 100 tours in the first quarter of this year was $123.25, an all-time. Its data indicates that the average ticket price for a Bad Bunny ticket is $290, for Justin Timberlake $216, and for Nicki Minaj $149.

"Ticket prices are just astronomical right now," said David "5-1" Norman, an industry veteran who has toured with Prince, Green Day, and Alicia Keys. "And if you're bringing a child with you, and then you have to stay overnight and gas and hotel and then food, that stuff adds up."

Just having the big song doesn't necessarily always translate into ticket sales.

Going on tour is always a gamble based on numerous factors including ticket history, streaming performance, email list sizes, and online attention. But there are no guarantees that any of that will translate to hard ticket sales . There are artists who might have massive numbers online but whose fans are only surface-level and don't really care enough to appear at a show. The way artists break out on social media nowadays makes it even harder to figure out whether that might be the case. Having a couple of hits on Spotify or TikTok doesn't mean someone can sell out a stadium.

That's why, in some cases, there seems to be a degree of overshooting. Artists (and their agents and managers and promoters) are trying to sell out bigger venues than they can. A more conservative approach would be to book a handful of big venues and see how it goes before committing to more, but that's not the approach everyone is taking.

"We have some hard-rock artists who you've never even heard of and they sell out everywhere, but they have that loyal fan base," Arfa said. "Just having the big song doesn't necessarily always translate into ticket sales." For every five or six acts that are doing great touring, one is a little clunky, he added. "We're having a couple conversations where we're thinking it may be best to push into Q1 of next year because of a high level of traffic on the road right now."

A spokesperson for Live Nation said in a statement that over 100 million tickets have been sold this year, even with fewer stadium shows touring, and that sales for shows in arenas, amphitheaters, theaters, and clubs are up "double digits" from last year. "Every year some events naturally fall off for various reasons, and in 2024 across all venue types we've seen a 4% cancellation rate – which is flat to last year," the spokesperson said.

Every artist and situation is unique. Bad Bunny may not have been able to sell such high-priced tickets in Minneapolis, but he's sold a ton of other places. JLo seems to have a lot more on her plate than trying to tour right now, and the Black Keys will probably do fine in smaller venues. A representative for Live Nation, which is producing the Troye Sivan/Charli XCX show, said the tour had sold out some dates and was 70% sold across the board, implying there had been misconceptions about sales online. (They said Wallows is selling "well" without providing on-the-record specifics and pointed to public statements from the Black Keys and Lopez, the tours of which Live Nation all produced.) Hiccups are not all about ticket sales, either. Kid Cudi canceled his tour this year because he broke his foot jumping off the stage during Coachella, and many acts aren't specifically saying the problem is sales when they do cancel.

There are strategies acts undertake to try to freshen things up for fans and boost sales, such as combining forces or bringing in special guests. Def Leppard is touring with Journey this year, and last year it toured with Mötley Crüe. There's always good old marketing. Live Nation recently wrapped its "concert week," which offers a variety of tickets at $25 — a good way to push tickets that aren't moving.

There is, of course, a huge issue that undergirds the entire conversation: Buying tickets is supremely annoying. You have to really want to see a show to try to navigate the labyrinthine purchase process. Live Nation-Ticketmaster dominates the market, which critics — including the Department of Justice, which is suing the company over claims of anti-competitive practices — say stifles innovation, allows for unfair markups, and contributes to an overall negative experience for fans . Fees on tickets are confoundingly high and seemingly endless . Bot armies snatch up tickets when they go on sale and flip them on the secondary markets for exorbitantly high prices. (One piece of silver lining here is that this year's lowered demand has resulted in lower resale ticket prices. SeatGeek says the average resale ticket price to attend a summer concert this year is $214; last year, it was $257, though a lot of that was due to Taylor Swift and Beyoncé.)

"The time when customer experiences aren't good is usually when there's a monopoly involved," Witt, from The Pabst Theater Group, said.

JLo, of course, will be fine — she is very rich, famous, and beautiful after all. Her fans will survive and will probably have a chance to see her perform again. But next time she hits the road, they'd be wise to scoop up her tickets fast so "This Is Me … Whenever In the Future" doesn't get axed, too.

The Unique Burial of a Child of Early Scythian Time at the Cemetery of Saryg-Bulun (Tuva)

<< Previous page

Pages:  379-406

In 1988, the Tuvan Archaeological Expedition (led by M. E. Kilunovskaya and V. A. Semenov) discovered a unique burial of the early Iron Age at Saryg-Bulun in Central Tuva. There are two burial mounds of the Aldy-Bel culture dated by 7th century BC. Within the barrows, which adjoined one another, forming a figure-of-eight, there were discovered 7 burials, from which a representative collection of artifacts was recovered. Burial 5 was the most unique, it was found in a coffin made of a larch trunk, with a tightly closed lid. Due to the preservative properties of larch and lack of air access, the coffin contained a well-preserved mummy of a child with an accompanying set of grave goods. The interred individual retained the skin on his face and had a leather headdress painted with red pigment and a coat, sewn from jerboa fur. The coat was belted with a leather belt with bronze ornaments and buckles. Besides that, a leather quiver with arrows with the shafts decorated with painted ornaments, fully preserved battle pick and a bow were buried in the coffin. Unexpectedly, the full-genomic analysis, showed that the individual was female. This fact opens a new aspect in the study of the social history of the Scythian society and perhaps brings us back to the myth of the Amazons, discussed by Herodotus. Of course, this discovery is unique in its preservation for the Scythian culture of Tuva and requires careful study and conservation.
