Tala Zone: It is one of the oldest and most popular zones of Bandhavgarh National Park. Apart from tiger sightings, the zone is also known for its several other attractions. These include the famous Bandhavgarh Fort and the 10th-century tourist attraction the Shesh Shaiya, the idol of Lord Vishnu lying on the Shesh Nag. The idol is also the origin of Charan Ganga which provides life to the park and its various meadows. Umaria is the nearest town (32 km) from the Tala zone.

Magadhi Zone: The zone is also known as Gate 2 of Bandhavgarh National Park. It has several natural and manmade waterholes including Murdhawa, Dabhadhole, Sukhi Patiha and Charkpwaha where tiger sightings have been reported. This zone is characterized by mixed dense forests and grasslands.

Khitauli Zone: This zone is known as Gate 3 of the Bandhavgarh National Park. The forest area has dry-deciduous forests and several tiger sightings have been reported in the past few years. The zone is also home to a herd of migrant wild elephants. Apart from tigers, other animals that can be spotted here include nilgai, chinkara and chausingha. Apart from animals, the zone is emerging as a favorite for birdwatchers.

Dhamokar Zone: 14 km from the Tala Zone, this buffer zone is an extension of the Magadhi Zone and lies between Parasi and Mahaman villages. The Mudgudi dam and a few natural caves of Sehimaada are the major attractions of the zone. The Kadewaha grassland is ideal for spotting wildlife in the zone.

Johila (Kalwa) Zone: An extension of the Tala zone, the entry point to this zone lies near the Chechpur village. The Johila waterfalls located in this zone attract several tourists during the safari. The waterfall originates from Amarkantak and drains in the Son River.

A hat or cap to protect you from the harsh summer sun. if you are undertaking the safari in the summer months, ensure that you have your sunglasses and a bottle of water with you. this will help you in keeping hydrated and prevent sunstroke.

If you are taking the safari during the winter season, keep yourself covered in warm clothes as the temperature in the forest is lower than that in the city.

Avoid wearing bright-colored clothes for safari as they can attract unnecessary attention from the wildlife. It is advised to wear earthy tones like brown, grey, etc. so that you can easily blend with the surroundings.

Disturbing the wildlife by talking loudly, playing loud music, or throwing waste in the jungle is not allowed and therefore care should be taken to avoid doing such things.

Open Jeep Safari – This safari can accommodate 6 people apart from the driver and naturalist. Children above 5 years are counted as an individual for safari. Tourists can book the safari for morning or evening slots. The timings for the safari are different for the summer and winter seasons. The jeep safari is open from 01st October to 30th June every year for the core zones. The buffer zones remain open throughout the year.

The canter is an open 12–24-seater bus which offers an amazing view of the forest and its wildlife to the visitors. Online canter safari is not available. However, bookings for the same can be done at the gates of the Bandhavgarh National Park. The canter safari is available in both morning and evening slots.

Elephant Safari – (Cureently it is not available) The elephant ride is available in the Tala zone of Bandhavgarh National Park. Nothing can beat the spectacular view obtained from sitting atop the majestic elephant. Since tiger sighting chances are quite high in the Tala zone, the elephant ride comes as a bonus. Moreover, the elephant ride also offers a vantage point for clicking amazing photographs of the beautiful surroundings. Additionally, since this is a half-day safari, you have plenty of time to explore the region and try your luck. The bookings for this safari are done on a first-come-first-served basis.

Full-Day Safari – Ideal for photographers and wildlife enthusiasts, this safari takes place from dawn to dusk. Apart from additional 15 minutes for entry and exit from regular permits, the additional benefit of opting for this safari is that you are not restricted to any particular zone or route. However, for these additional benefits, you need to deposit advance payment with the forest department of Bandhavgarh National Park.

Night Safari – This safari is available in the Panpatha (Pachpedientry point) and Dhamokhar (Parasientry point) buffer zones of the Bandhavgarh National Park from 7 PM to 9:30 PM in winter and 07:30 to 10:30 in summer season. It offers the tourists an excellent chance to observe the nocturnal animals in their natural surroundings. With luck, you might be able to spot deer and Royal Bengal tigers. About Panna

mp tourism safari online booking

Safari in Panna

Panna National Park is divided into multiple safari zones to manage visitor traffic and wildlife conservation effectively.

Madla Zone: Madla Zone is the most popular safari zone in Panna National Park. It is located on the eastern side of the park and offers a good chance to spot various wildlife species, including tigers, leopards, sloth bears, deer, and a variety of bird species.

Hinouta Zone : Hinouta Zone is situated on the western side of the park. It provides an opportunity to explore the pristine forests and encounter wildlife, including tigers, leopards, chinkaras, and more. This zone is known for its picturesque landscapes and serene atmosphere.

Apart from above zones, Panna National Park has buffer zones (Akola & Jinna) that surround the core area of the park. These buffer zones are also open for safaris and offer opportunities to explore the wildlife and natural beauty of the region.

Buffer zones refer to the areas that surround the core zone or the park’s main area where wildlife is conserved. The buffer zones act as a buffer to the core zone, protecting the wildlife and their habitat from human disturbances, poaching, and encroachment.

The buffer zones offer excellent opportunities for visitors to enjoy the park’s natural beauty and observe the wildlife from a safe distance.

Book Kanha Tour Packages at Reasonable Prices

There is no such facility in core areas of Kanha National Park. There are only a few small guest houses at the entry gate and you can book them from the department office.

Both Khatia and Mukki gates have private hotels. Kanha National Park opens from October 1 to June 30 and remains closed in July, August and September. On Wednesday, evening safari is not available. In addition, the park also remains closed on the occasion of Holi in March.

There are basically three categories of jungle safari in Kanha –

Normal Safari – There are 6-seater Jeeps available in Kanha for jungle safari and only 2 canters (an open bus with 20 seats). The canter and jeep safaris are available in two shifts only. Kanha morning safari is usually longer and lasts till 11 AM, while Kanha evening safari is shorter and fewer jeeps are permitted.

Note – Jeeps are mainly booked on an exclusive basis in Kanha National Park. You can also book jeep safari on an individual seat basis. You have to go to the entry gate because jeeps won’t pick you up at the hotel. Madhya Pradesh has a long and illustrious history of wildlife tourism, owing to its abundant and diverse wildlife population. The state's rich biodiversity and pristine natural habitats have been attracting wildlife enthusiasts and nature lovers for many decades. Here's an overview of the history of wildlife tourism in Madhya Pradesh:

Even in ancient and medieval times, Madhya Pradesh's forests and wildlife attracted attention and reverence. The region's rulers, such as the Mauryas and Guptas, were known for their conservation efforts, and hunting restrictions were imposed in certain areas to protect wildlife.

During British rule, the forests of Madhya Pradesh garnered interest among European hunters and wildlife enthusiasts. The British administrators recognized the potential of the region for hunting and started organizing hunting expeditions for British officers and dignitaries.

The 20th century witnessed a growing awareness of the need for wildlife conservation. Conservationists and naturalists began to advocate for the protection of wildlife and the establishment of national parks and sanctuaries. In the 1930s, the British administration declared certain areas as reserved forests, providing some protection to the wildlife.

Establishment of National Parks:

After India gained independence in 1947, the state government of Madhya Pradesh took significant steps towards wildlife conservation and tourism. The first national park in India, Kanha National Park, was established in 1955 in Madhya Pradesh. The park was created with the primary objective of protecting the endangered Bengal tiger.

Promotion of Wildlife Tourism:

During the 1970s and 1980s, Madhya Pradesh actively promoted wildlife tourism. The state government worked towards improving tourism infrastructure and providing better amenities for visitors. Tourist facilities, such as safari lodges and jungle resorts, were set up near national parks to accommodate wildlife enthusiasts and tourists.

Madhya Pradesh has played a crucial role in tiger conservation efforts in India. The state is home to some of the most significant tiger reserves, including Bandhavgarh, Pench, and Satpura. These tiger reserves have been instrumental in the protection and conservation of the majestic Bengal tigers.

In recent years, there has been a shift towards promoting sustainable wildlife tourism. Efforts are made to strike a balance between tourism and wildlife conservation. Responsible tourism practices are encouraged to minimize the impact on the delicate ecosystems and to preserve the natural habitats.

Madhya Pradesh's wildlife tourism has gained recognition globally, with wildlife enthusiasts, photographers, and nature lovers from around the world visiting the state to experience its diverse wildlife and natural beauty. Several documentaries and wildlife films have also showcased the region's unique flora and fauna, further promoting wildlife tourism.

Today, wildlife tourism is a significant contributor to Madhya Pradesh's tourism industry, providing not only a thrilling experience for visitors but also generating awareness about the importance of conserving the state's precious wildlife and habitats for future generations to cherish and enjoy.
