The Eras Tour: Kansas City, Missouri (Night 2)

Last night was the final show in Kansas City , MO at Arrowhead Stadium for The Eras Tour! Once again, Taylor played Long Live during the Speak Now set on the Koi fish guitar. The surprise songs were Last Kiss and Dorothea. Videos of these two beautiful performances are below. The Eras Tour heads to Denver, CO next!

I just returned from the Kansas City nights of Taylor Swift’s Kansas City tour. I have been composing and producing music for television for decades. I’ve worked with, watched, and recorded with so many of the greatest musicians in Hollywood for decades.

NEVER have I witnessed multi-level talent or the sheer force of nature that is Taylor Swift. My 26-year old daughter Abby, a law student at Creighton, stood next to me on the 8th row of floor section H for three hours and thirty minutes. She sat online for an entire day to capture three $100 advance tickets, all she could afford. She sold them for an unprecedented amount of money and could have paid off law school bills. Instead she leveraged them to ATTEND. She has been a fan of Taylor’s since she was 13.

Cities experiencing the demand, and better put…the unbridled passion for Taylor and her music, are seriously being overwhelmed. You would expect a stadium that has been home to Super Bowl Champions like the Kansas City Chiefs would be prepared. They weren’t. Never had so many carloads descended upon one stadium.

Not since the arrival of the Beatles in America have I seen a phenomenon like The Eras Tour. Yet even the Beatles can’t compare…in scale. While John Lennon and Paul McCartney will go down in history as the best pop composers of all time, Taylor will hold the title for the most authentic. The most relatable and soul-piercing.

Taylor Swift speaks to a generation of ageless fans, mostly under-served women, in a most personal way. Using some of most vast, impersonal, global technologies of all time: digital platforms and massive arenas.

Yet her arrows shoot right through the heart.

Her experiences are THEIR experiences, and nothing gets in the way.

As a producer, a composer, and a singer, I held a light for Carole King. James Taylor. Streisand. Billy Joel. Elton John. Dozens of other greats. They set the standard for making memories for an entire generation.

But The Eras Tour is simply different.

Those paying the unprecedented thousands for a ticket to see Taylor in 2023?

Leave the stadium feeling they didn’t just get their money’s worth? They feel they GOT A DEAL.

Nearly a hundred thousand fans in Kansas City? Knew every single lyric and belted them out loud.

They stood for over three hours watching Taylor bust through 50 distinct production numbers, impossible for any other performer of our time, or any time, to deliver.

She doesn’t just perform? She gives. She makes connections.

Taylor receives gratefully her adoration and sends it right back.

In a time when music has been so mishandled as a business, and when music is too often consumed in only brief, one dollar bites, Taylor Swift fans consume hours of her dense lyrics and messages, contemporary musical ideas, and electric, wholesome stage moves, and vaults of merchandise……

and leaves them wanting MORE.

Taylor Swift Proves Third Time’s the Charm With ‘Last Kiss’ Performance

By Althea Legaspi

Althea Legaspi

Taylor Swift performed “Last Kiss” as one of her surprise acoustic songs last night, July 8, during her second of two consecutive nights of her Eras tour at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri. It was a fitting choice as she just released Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) on Friday and the breakup song hails from the original LP culled in 2010.

Given it has been a long while since Swift dusted off that track for a live rendition, it’s understandable that she forgot the lyrics, having to start the song a couple of times. “Oh my God,” she exclaimed as she realized she had skipped over a few lines on the first try. “We have this rule on this tour where if I mess up a song then I have to play it again some other time on the tour, just so I can avenge myself.”

Francis Ford Coppola: 'I Have Nothing Left to Lose'

'black myth: wukong' is a hit. but why is the game so controversial, trump has multi-platform meltdown for the ages over harris’ dnc speech, liam gallagher isn’t exactly dispelling oasis reunion rumors.

“I swear I will not mess this up again!,” she laughed, along with the audience. “Oh my God, this one, I love this one, why am I doing this to this song?” Thankfully, the third time was the charm, and she delivered it flawlessly on the third try as fan footage showcased. She also debuted “Dorothea” live for the first time on Saturday.

Her Kansas City run included other surprises, which didn’t involve any memory lapse. On Friday, she premiered the video for Speak Now “From the Vault” song “ I Can See You .” Directed and written by Swift, the visual stars Taylor Lautner, Joey King, and Presley Cash, all of whom joined her on stage Friday to debut the video.

Fans pack GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium Friday night for Taylor Swift's 'Eras' Tour

kc eras tour night 2

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One of the biggest stars on the planet came to Kansas City Friday night.

It was night one for Taylor Swift's concert stop in KCMO before tens of thousands of fans at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.

"I mean it's totally awesome," Ella Warden said outside the stadium. "We all love Taylor Swift. We've been day ones since the beginning of time."

The Swifties , which is how the singer's fans refer to themselves, could be seen and heard in the parking lots outside the stadium.

Lots were full of singing, "Taylor-gating" and thousands of custom-made bracelets brought in by fans.

Just as much as sequins or the color lavender, trading bracelets with lyrics or Swift-specific sayings to meet new fans is a huge part of the culture.

"Taylor's kind of like created this like community of all these amazing people that've kind of come together," Warden said. "And so you see like the bracelets and you get to trade them with all kinds of people ."

Many of the fans at the concert grew up with Taylor Swift and she's had an influence on them.

Tonight's concert is a peak experience for many of Swift's fans.

"Being able to come to Arrowhead and Taylor-gate and do what we do for Chiefs games, but do it for Taylor Swift and to be with everyone in their awesome outfits is just so cool," said Sarah Markowitz, another huge Swift fan. "We've been thinking about this for months now, like it's wild that it's actually here."

A Voice for Everyone

IT’S TAYLOR TIME! A list of Eras Tour must-knows for the big day

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - It’s “Taylor Swift Week” in Kansas City and it would be an understatement to say people are getting excited . With attendance for both nights expected to surpass 100,000 fans, if you scored a ticket to the festivities it’s time to make sure you’re ready for it.

Swift will be performing two shows at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium—one on Friday, July 7 and the other on Saturday, July 8. Both events start at 6:30 p.m. with special guests MUNA and Gracie Abrams as openers.

What to Bring

The GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium bag policy must be followed. Any items that are not on the list below (including clear fanny packs or backpacks) are not allowed and will have to be returned to a vehicle or left outside the stadium.

  • One 12″ x 6″ x 12″ clear plastic bag
  • One-gallon, clear, plastic freezer bag (Ziploc® bag or similar).
  • Small clutch bags that do not exceed 4.5″ x 6.5″, with or without a handle or strap, may be carried into the stadium along with one of the clear bag options.
  • An exception will be made for medically necessary items after proper inspection.

Permitted Items

The following is a short list of common items that are permitted into the stadium. Be sure to double-check the full list here .

  • Blankets (carried in over the shoulder)
  • Banners, signs and flags that are no larger than 3′ x 5′
  • One 20-ounce, sealed, factory water bottle
  • Portable chargers (no larger than 6″ x 3″ x 1.5″)
  • Binoculars without the case
  • Small still cameras under 6″ without the case (no professional cameras with large lenses are permitted)

Friendship Bracelets

A hallmark of the Eras Tour has been fans making (or buying) friendship bracelets to trade with other concert-goers during the show.

There’s also an entire section of the r/TaylorSwift Reddit thread dedicated to sharing and decoding the lyric-based or inside joke acronyms put on the bracelets. What could “SCTUPMITF” possibly mean? “Screaming, crying, throwing up, punch me in the face,” obviously.

Comment by u/Sure_Society8336 from discussion The Eras Tour: Fan Outfits, Costumes, and Bracelets Megathread in TaylorSwift

It may be a little late to start mass-producing bracelets in time for Friday or Saturday night, but last minute supplies can be picked up in any local craft section. Some ideas for the bracelets are to base them on themes from the different Eras, use quotes from Swift, make acronyms of her lyrics, or reference the location and date of the specific concert.

Merch Money

Concert merch is bound to be more expensive than an everyday t-shirt, but Swift’s merchandise seems to be reasonably priced. The following prices were found in pictures of the traveling merch truck at previous concerts.

  • T-Shirt: $45
  • Long Sleeve Shirt: $55
  • Quarter Zip Pullover: $65
  • Hoodie: $75
  • City-Specific Poster: $30
  • Tour Bracelet: $35
  • Tapestry: $35
  • Midnights (The Late Night Edition) CD: $10

READ MORE: Fans line up overnight for Taylor Swift merchandise at Arrowhead Stadium

Most of the items available in person from the merch truck can also be purchased online , but they may not be specific to Kansas City or have the same *feeling* as they will after waiting in line for hours. Here are the times the truck will be available:

  • Early Merchandise Opportunity: On Thursday, July 6 access to the parking lots at the Truman Sports Complex is free and open to the public. The parking lots will open at 8 a.m. and the merchandise truck will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. All guests will be asked to follow signage and staff direction to a designated parking location. No overnight parking or queueing will be permitted.
  • Event Day Merchandise: On Friday, July 7 and Saturday, July 8 the merchandise truck will only be open to guests with parking passes for the respective day (Friday or Saturday), as well as tickets to that day’s show. The truck will be open from 2:30 p.m. During the concerts on Friday and Saturday, merchandise can also be found at more than 15 locations inside GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.

What NOT to Bring

Prohibited items.

The following is a short list of common items that will not be permitted into the stadium. The full list is extensive, so be sure to double-check it here .

  • No glass, plastic, or metal reusable water bottles or thermoses
  • No food, beverages, or coolers (only 20-ounce, sealed, factory water bottles are permitted)
  • Only medical/COVID masks or religious face coverings are allowed, no other masks are allowed.
  • No clothing or personal items that could impede the view of those around you
  • No animals- only certified disability service animals (not ESAs)
  • No noise-making devices such as air horns or bells
  • No professional or commercial cameras/photography equipment, video cameras, GoPros, audio recording devices, or tripods. Only personal cell phones are permitted to take video or audio recordings.

Fake Tickets

Be incredibly careful about buying tickets online and be sure to only purchase them from reputable ticket re-sale websites such as Stub Hub , Seat Geek , or Vivid Seats . Sellers requesting payment through Venmo or Cash App should not be trusted and if money is lost through those apps to scammers, it will not be refunded.

It may be tempting to believe in the goodwill of strangers online, but scammers are happy to take advantage of people that are desperate for tickets. The Lenexa Police Department reported just over a week ago that a Kansas City local lost $1,000 to scammers . Block or ignore accounts that were clearly created 30 seconds ago and are claiming to have tickets for sale below face value.

All concession stands and retail points of sale are completely cashless. In addition to traditional scan and chip reader options for credit/debit cards, all fixed points of sale offer mobile tap or scan payment options, including Chiefs Pay, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Samsung Pay. In-stadium vendor stands are credit card only.

Parking at Arrowhead Stadium

Standard parking.

Parking for Arrowhead Stadium must be purchased ahead of time and costs $47 for a regular vehicle or $120 for a bus.

When purchasing a parking pass , be sure to reserve the correct night and think twice if you’re considering “ Taylor-gating. ” Although tailgating is allowed before the concert begins, Arrowhead Stadium policy prohibits fans from staying in the parking lot once the show has started. It is unclear how the policy will be enforced, but “access to the complex is for ticketed guests only.”

Ridesharing and Other Vehicles

Rideshare vehicles that are not staying and parking must enter through Gate 2 for pick up and drop off in Lot J.

Arrowhead stadium accessibility.

There are accessible entrances to the stadium available for guests who require accommodations.

  • Floor Entry: Guests with mobility needs will need to enter the GEHA Gate on the southeast side of the stadium for floor access. Guests will need to obtain their floor wristband and take the tunnel down to the floor level, as this is the only accessible entryway to the floor.
  • General Entry : All other guests are advised to view “Accessible Gates” and “Elevators” here for more information about entry and access to GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.

Additional accommodations for inside the stadium, such as accessible seating and sign language interpreters, may be available as well.

  • Accessible relocations are available on a first-come, first-serve basis and are not guaranteed. Starting June 26th, please reach out to [email protected] for more information on any available relocation options.
  • Should guests require a sign language interpreter, please reach out to [email protected] as soon as possible. Relocations to this designated area will occur on or after June 26th upon request.

What to Wear

The average Swiftie has probably had their outfit chosen for months, so KCTV5 will leave the fashion recommendations up to individual taste.

📷| A swiftie wearing an "Anti-Hero" costume because she called in sick to work pic.twitter.com/FedFMpsnUQ — The Swift Society (@TheSwiftSociety) July 1, 2023

Do pay attention to the forecast , though, and remember that it will be hot and humid until the sun sets around 8:45 p.m. (welcome to Missouri).

Otherwise, drink plenty of water, consider bringing sunscreen, don’t forget to pause the scream-singing while you’re taking videos, and have an incredible time dancin’ all night.

More information about the two-night event can be found at chiefs.com .

Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift was having a bit of trouble remembering her song lyrics during her Eras Tour stop in Kansas City, Mo., on Saturday (July 8).

During the acoustic section of her set at Geha Field at Arrowhead Stadium, the 33-year-old pop star hilariously forget the words — not once, but twice — to her sorrowful 2010 Speak Now track “Last Kiss.”

Here’s Why Taylor Swift Fans Think ‘1989 (Taylor’s Version)’ Is Being Teased in ‘I Can See…

After effortlessly singing the first two lines of the opening verse, Swift accidentally skipped ahead to the “July ninth” portion of the second verse before pausing to acknowledge her mistake.

Trending on Billboard

“Oh my God! No, those are the right lyrics,” Tay said, repeating the opening lines. “I swear that I will not mess this up again! Oh my God! This one, I love this one. Why am I doing this to this song?”

The third time was a charm, as the songstress effortlessly delivered the Speak Now track without further interruption.

Prior to performing “Last Kiss,” Swift reminded the sold-out crowd of the date, which plays an important role in the song.

“I don’t know if you noticed what the date is today, but it’s July 8th,” she said . “Soon it will be July 9th. You know what time it is, Kansas City. It’s time to play ‘Last Kiss’ and cry.”

“Last Kiss” reached No. 71 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 2010. In the prologue included in the vinyl edition of Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) , the newly released re-recorded version of her third album, Swift called it “the saddest song I’ve ever written.”

Listen to this article

Taylor Swift 's The Eras Tour is in full swing, and just as fans had hoped, Taylor has confirmed that she will be performing surprise songs on every single night of the tour.

If you've been a fan of Taylor for a while, you'll know that she always includes a surprise song or two in her tour set lists. The tradition goes all the way back to the Speak Now World Tour, where she included the surprise covers she performed during that era.

With the tour now officially underway, the surprise songs are back, back, back again! There are 45 songs in the setlist already, which means she's got well over 200 songs (!!) to choose from for the surprise slots.

Initially, Taylor told fans that she will only play each surprise song once, unless she messes it up. But she has now confirmed that she has ended that rule, and she will play whatever she wants, however many times she wants!

So, what surprise songs has Taylor Swift already performed on The Eras Tour and what can fans expect for the rest of the dates? Here's the full list. (We'll update this article live, during each show.)

She has also confirmed that she will now completely scrap the 'only playing it once' rule, and will repeat songs if she feels like it. Here's the full list so far...

In 2023, Taylor played an additional 124 songs from her own discography as surprise songs. That includes 19 from Red (Taylor's Version), 17 from Speak Now (Taylor's Version), 16 from 1989 (Taylor's Version), 15 from Fearless (Taylor's Version), 11 from Midnights, 11 from Taylor Swift, 10 from Reputation, 10 from Lover, 8 from evermore and 6 from folklore.

Plus one soundtrack song ('I Don't Wanna Live Forever) and one extra song that's not her own ('I miss you, I'm sorry' with Gracie Abrams).

The Eras Tour concert film was recorded on August 3rd, 4th and 5th and all six surprise songs she performed at those shows will be included in The Eras Tour (Taylor's Version) on Disney+.

Taylor Swift announces The Eras Tour concert film with trailer

What surprise songs has Taylor Swift not played yet?

With Taylor performing at least two surprise songs a night, it's pretty much a given that she will perform the wide majority of her catalogue before she finishes the entire tour.

Every acoustic section is different, but fans heading to the final leg of the Eras Tour will likely end up hearing some repeats as Taylor now only has a handful of songs that have not yet been played on this particular tour. A few of them are incredibly emotional and personal so she may not even perform them at all.

Here's all the songs that Taylor Swift has not yet performed live on the Eras Tour:

  • Taylor Swift : [All songs from Taylor Swift have now been performed.]
  • Fearless (Taylor's Version): 'That’s When', 'Bye Bye Baby'
  • Speak Now (Taylor's Version): [All songs from Speak Now (Taylor's Version) have been performed.]
  • Red (Taylor's Version) : 'Girl At Home', 'Ronan', 'Forever Winter'
  • 1989 (Taylor's Version) : [All songs from 1989 (Taylor's Version) have now been performed.]
  • Reputation : [All songs from Reputation have now been performed.]
  • Lover : 'Soon You’ll Get Better'
  • Folklore : [All songs from Folklore have now been performed.]
  • Evermore : [All songs from Evermore have now been performed.]
  • Midnights : [All songs from Midnights have now been performed.]
  • The Tortured Poets Department : 'Cassandra'

Taylor performed 'Florida!!!' with Florence Welch during London Night 8 (Aug 20) but it was performed during the main setlist, not as a surprise song. It could still pop up later down the line during the acoustic section.

Taylor has also not yet performed 'Tolerate It' as a surprise song after removing it from the official setlist.

Alongside those listed album tracks, there's also several standalone and soundtrack songs that Taylor could add into the mix: 'Only The Young', 'I Heart?', 'Beautiful Eyes', 'Beautiful Ghosts'... And of course, 'Macavity' and 'Christmas Tree Farm'. (You never know!)

There's also the small possibility that she could potentially perform the songs she's featured on, like she did with Gracie Abrams on London Night 3, maybe even with special guests: 'The Joker and the Queen', 'Two Is Better Than One', 'Renegade', 'Both of Us', 'Gasoline', 'Birch', 'Highway Don’t Care' and 'The Alcott'.

It's highly unlikely that Taylor will perform 'Soon You'll Get Better' as a surprise song. Taylor previously said that she can't perform the song live because of how difficult it is for her to "emotionally deal" with the meaning behind it, which many assume is about her mother's cancer diagnosis. She's performed it once , in a segment for Global Citizen in 2020, but is yet to sing it in front of an audience.

What surprise songs has Taylor Swift performed on The Eras Tour?

What surprise songs will Taylor Swift perform again?

At the start of the The Eras Tour, Taylor revealed that she had two rules when it comes to playing surprise songs more than once. Rule 1: If she messed up, she's allowed to play it again. Rule 2: Midnights songs are exempt and she can play them "however many times I want..."

However, in February 2024, she confirmed that that rule is no longer in place. She will play whatever songs she wants, however many times she wants.

So, if you're going to a London show in August, or one of the final shows in Vancouver and you're hoping to hear 'You're On Your Own, Kid'? It's now a strong possibility.

Here's a list of all the songs Taylor has performed multiple times on the Eras Tour so far:
