EF Go Ahead Tours Review 2024: Are their guided tours worth it?
EF Go Ahead Tours is a world-leading guided tour company offering a comprehensive travel package with local guides and authentic travel experiences. You've likely heard of them before, but are they really worth it? What do they offer, and how do they stack up to other guided tours?
Guided tours are a great way to travel, make new friends, and enjoy new experiences without the hassle of planning the logistics of the trip.
While guided tour companies boast of convenience, they tend to fall short when it comes to flexibility and customization. Hence, many travelers resort to planning their trips by themselves using helpful apps like Pilot .
But, if you still prefer a guided tour with some level of flexibility, EF Go Ahead Tours is definitely a choice to consider.
EF Go Ahead Tours is one of the world's largest tour companies that host small group tours with unique, authentic experiences. A great benefit of joining an EF Go Ahead Tour is that they allow travelers the benefits of hosting a free private tour with larger groups.
However, are the experiences they're offering for you? What are the pros and cons? Here's our review of EF Go Ahead Tours!
What is EF Go Ahead Tours?
EF Go Ahead Tours is a brand under the EF Tours group that offers both guided and fully customizable tours to destinations worldwide. It caters to young and older travelers, admitting anyone from age six and above (under-age travelers accompanied by adults). The number of travelers in each group is capped at 14-38, and small group tours only admit 10-22 people.
EF Go Ahead Tours aims to provide you with meaningful tours with flexibility and personalization. It also promotes responsible travel by supporting local communities and adopting sustainable practices.
EF Go Ahead Tours mobile app helps you easily manage your bookings and view tour details. It is available for both Android and iOS devices.
What does EF Go Ahead Tours offer?
- Tour directors and local guides: A tour director is assigned for each group to be in charge of all logistics of the trip. They will accompany you throughout, sharing insider knowledge and background information about places you visit.
- Accommodation: 3-4 star hotels that provide comfortable amenities while being located in close proximity to the city.
- Meals: Breakfast and some other meals are included in the pricing. Primarily, they focus on local food and beverage specialties. They will arrange meals meeting your dietary requirements if necessary.
- Transportation: Transport between airport and hotels and other transportation required during the trip are included in the package. While flights are not included, you can get EF Go Ahead Tours to arrange them for you at an additional cost.
How does EF Go Ahead Tours work?
You can browse for tours by Destination or Travel Styles on the website. Travel styles are further categorized as Trip Type, Interests, Seasonal and Special Events , and With Your Own Group .
For example, all the related tours will appear if we pick Adventure Tours under travel styles. You can filter the results further by destination, dates, duration, price, and travel style.
Check out its details, trip highlights, prices, reviews, etc. There's a list of FAQs below related to the trip and other similar tours for you to compare and choose from.
What destinations does EF Go Ahead Tours cover?
EF Go Ahead Tours covers many of the popular destinations worldwide. Here's a list of where EF Go Ahead Tours covers:
- Europe: Ireland, Italy, Greece, Iceland, England, France, and Germany
- The Americas: United States, Canada, Costa Rica, Peru, Ecuador, and Belize
- Africa & Middle East: Egypt, Kenya, Israel, South Africa, Turkey, and United Arab Emirates
- Australia & Asia: Australia, New Zealand, Japan, China, India, and Thailand
Benefits of EF Go Ahead Tours
- Worry-free guarantee
If you cancel the booking within 60 days from the reservation date, you are entitled to a full refund. EF Go Ahead Tours also allows you to change the date of tour or destination up until your final payment day. It helps you book with confidence knowing there's ample time to make changes.
In addition to covering many destinations worldwide, the tour company also offers a diverse range of tours. Group trips for solo travelers provide ample privacy while facilitating socialization. In addition, there are cruise tours, rail tours, food & wine tours, battlefield tours, winter tours, and many more!
- Fewer people
The worrisome factor about large group tours is they can seem too crowded and noisy to have a quality experience. There's also less opportunity to get to know other travelers better. In this case, small group tours offer a more intimate travel experience. Guides can give individual attention and advice easily. Overall, it makes the trip more enjoyable and memorable.
- Flexibility
If you like to travel with friends but don't have the liberty to plan, get EF Go Ahead Tours to plan one for you. You can explain your requirements and get a whole new itinerary done or choose one they offer. Invite your friends and/or family, choose your travel dates, and enjoy. There's also the option of organizing faith-based tours!
Drawbacks of EF Go Ahead Tours
- Increase the number of tours
While there's a variety of tours, different trip options under each category are quite limited compared to other guided tour companies like G Adventures or Contiki . For example, there's only one tour option for India. They can also add more countries to their list of destinations.
- Improve refund and cancellation issues
Customers had faced refund and cancellation issues for scheduled or booked tours during the pandemic. There were complaints of EF Go Ahead Tours not refunding the money as per its cancellation policy. But, it's a common problem that many tour companies dealt with their customers following the Covid outbreak. We hope they are resolved now.
EF Go Ahead Tours vs. EF Ultimate Break
The most significant similarity between EF Go Ahead Tours and EF Ultimate Break is that they are managed by EF Education First Tours. This means that you'll most likely be getting a similar refund, cancellation, and customer service policies between the two tours.
EF Go Ahead Tours identifies itself as the 'older sibling' of EF Ultimate Break. Ultimate Break Tours is geared towards college students and folks aged 18-29, while Go Ahead Tours admits anyone 6 and above. So, the tours offered also tend to be different from each other.
EF Go Ahead Tours has a wide variety of tours catering to all age ranges. It also provides both private and group tours. EF Ultimate Break only offers group tours and are tailored to suit youth's preferences.

Frustration boils over as Sam Burns snaps off driver head at 2024 FedEx St. Jude Championship
MEMPHIS — The heat might have finally broken Sam Burns.
Despite being near the top of the leaderboard midway through the third round of the FedEx St. Jude Championship , the LSU alum took some frustrations out on his clubs after a shanked drive off the tee on No. 9 during Saturday's third round of the opener of the 2024 FedEx Cup Playoffs.
Burns, who surged to 10 under through two rounds, was 12 under when he teed it up on the ninth hole and then slammed his driver into the turf, breaking head of the driver.
According to the USGA, "a player is not allowed to replace a damaged club, except when it is damaged during the round by an outside influence or natural forces, and/or by someone other than the player or his or her caddie."
After an errant tee shot on No. 9, Sam Burns breaks his driver and will be without it for the back nine. With the double bogey, he is now 4 shots back (solo 3rd). pic.twitter.com/Nm28b94YeM — PGA TOUR (@PGATOUR) August 17, 2024
So that meant Burns was be stuck without the use of his driver for the remaining nine holes of his third round.

Unlock It: Cédrine Kerbaol’s Stunning Stage 6 Victory Just Turned the Tour on Its Head
Kasia Niewiadoma’s GC lead is now down to just 16 seconds.
Kerbaol racing for Ceratizit–WNT executed a bold late-stage attack to win solo in Morteau. This victory catapulted her to second in the overall standings, positioning her well for a strong finish. The race dynamics saw Niamh Fisher-Black (SD Worx-Protime) and Puck Pieterse (Fenix Deceunick) fighting hard but falling short. This jeopardized Kasia Niewiadoma’s (Canyon//SRAM) Yellow Jersey until her team closed the gap. Still, she was isolated towards the end.
Kerbaol savored a career-defining win, while Marianne Vos (Visma-Lease a Bike) sprinted to second place, securing the Green Jersey . Kerbaol is now just 16 seconds behind Niewiadoma.
This win is a testament to Kerbaol’s tenacity and skill. The 23-year-old, deemed a burgeoning talent, has faced a rollercoaster season with victories and a DNF at the Giro d’Italia Women in July. Leading the underdog Ceratizit team, she demonstrated she could handle the pressure and is now on track for a solid GC finish.
The next two days will be decisive, with team strength and cohesion paramount for the GC teams.
Quickly, how did Stage 6 play out?
Stage 6, from Remiremont to Morteau, spanned 159.2 km and was suited for a breakaway. The first big move came from Audrey Cordon-Ragot (Human Powered Health) with 18 riders, including Vos, Fisher-Black, and Grace Brown (FDJ–Suez). The peloton kept a close watch, causing riders like Green Jersey holder Charlotte Kool (dsm-Firmenich) to struggle.
The breakaway group fragmented on the Cat 2 La Roche du Prêtre climb, leaving only Brown and Justine Ghekiere (AG Insurance-Soudal Team) ahead. The peloton, partly led by FDJ-Suez, closed the gap. Stage 4’s winner, Pieterse, made a QOM move but was countered by Kerbaol, who went solo after the Côte des Fins and secured a solo win. Vos led the pack home.
What’s next: Stage 7 brings on the real mountains
Covering 166.4 kilometers from Champagnole to Le Grand-Bornand, with 3,015 meters of elevation, including the Cat 1 Col de la Croix de la Serra, Stage 7 will be quite a challenge. With Niewiadoma leading the GC and Vollering trailing by over a minute, the stage is ripe for breakaways and solo attacks.
The weather will vary drastically, with hot, humid conditions early on and thunderstorms in the mountains. This stage will likely stretch the GC standings, favoring strong climbers and audacious descenders. Expect another dramatic shift in rankings.

Given the dynamics of Stage 6, Canyon//SRAM and SD Worx-Protime will likely take slightly different approaches to better their positions in Stage 7, considering the unique challenges the mountainous terrain presents.
In the crucial moments of Stage 6, we saw both team leaders a bit isolated, with just one other teammate riding with them in the same group. With Stages 7 and 8 expected to be much harder, we may see Niewiadoma and Vollering taking on the critical parts of tomorrow’s stage on their own if teammates can't keep with the pace in the high mountains.
Canyon//SRAM: As the current team supporting the Yellow Jersey holder, they will aim to control the peloton and manage breakaways to protect Niewiadoma’s lead. With significant elevation, the team will deploy climbers like Neve Bradbury to support Niewiadoma, ensuring she remains in close proximity to other GC contenders. They need to work on team cohesion to avoid situations where Niewiadoma is isolated, especially towards the final climbs, where attacks are most likely.
SD Worx-Protime: To close the gap on the overall standings, SD Worx-Protime may initiate or join early breakaways. Vollering, currently trailing by over a minute, will likely lead this effort if she has the legs, but we could also see teammate Niamh Fisher-Black rising to the challenge. With another final day in the high mountains ahead, SD Worx-Protime will focus on supporting Vollering, particularly in the Cat 1 Col de la Croix de la Serra. They will also need to adapt their strategy to varying weather conditions, effectively managing the heat and potential thunderstorms.

Sport Cédrine Kerbaol makes history with Tour de France Femmes stage-six win
Cédrine Kerbaol finished 21 seconds clear of the field to win stage six of the Tour de France Femmes.
The French rider moved up to second spot in the general classification following her stage victory.
What's next?
Kasia Niewiadoma leads the overall standings by 16 seconds heading into the penultimate stage.
Cédrine Kerbaol has become the first home rider to win a stage in the three-year history of the Tour de France Femmes.
Kerbaol lifted her arms above her head and made a heart sign with her hands as she crossed the line at the end of the sixth stage, a hilly 159.2-kilometre journey from Remiremont to Morteau.
The 23-year-old Frenchwoman, riding for Ceratizit–WNT Pro Cycling, attacked from the bunch at the top of the final climb with 14.5km remaining.
She used her descending prowess to pull away and finish 21 seconds ahead Marianne Vos and Liane Lippert.
The victory also lifted Kerbaol into second spot in the general classification, 16 seconds behind Kasia Niewiadoma heading into the final two stages in the high mountains.
American Kristen Faulkner was third, 19 seconds behind Niewiadoma.
Sarah Gigante led the Australian contingent home in the sixth stage, finishing in 25th position.
Gigante is also the leading Australian in the general classification, holding down 21st place.
Polish cyclist Niewiadoma moved into the overall lead following stage five.
Defending champion Demi Vollering had been on top of the standings but she crashed late in the fifth stage and lost more than a minute to her rivals.
Saturday's penultimate stage is almost entirely devoid of flat sections and has five classified climbs on the 166.4-kilometre route from Champagnole, including the second-category ascent to the summit finish at Le Grand-Bornand.

We spent about $35,000 for my 40th birthday trip to Ghana. It was worth every penny.
- I spent my 40th birthday in Ghana with nine of my closest friends — we spent about $35,000 total.
- We stayed at a five-star hotel in Accra and saw sites in the Cape Coast and the Volta Region.
- We organized the trip with a tour company . It was incredible, and I felt connected to my roots.
I've traveled to over 30 countries all over the world, so I knew I wanted to take an epic trip for my 40th birthday .
It was important for me to feel rooted in and connected to my heritage as I entered a new decade, so I chose to visit Ghana in West Africa with nine of my closest friends.
I've spent considerable amounts of time in southern and eastern Africa but only visited Ghana once in 2017. My time there left a considerable impact on me, so I wanted to celebrate my milestone birthday there with friends.
Between the vaccinations, flight, hotel, planned activities, food, and drinks, we each paid about $3,500 for the trip. It was money well spent.
Ghana offered a unique blend of adventure, relaxation, and cultural immersion, making it the perfect place to celebrate my birthday .
Here's what our experience was like.
We researched Ghana's entry requirements ahead of time
It's always worth checking the latest entry requirements and health advisories before traveling to Ghana.
When we visited, we needed a valid passport and a visa. It was easy to request a visa on the Embassy of Ghana's website . Most of us received our passports from the Ghana Embassy in Washington, DC, in about two weeks.
We also made sure to get travel insurance and any necessary vaccinations.
We stayed in Accra and organized the trip with the help of a Ghana-based tour company
Since we only had about five full days to spend in Ghana, we worked with Awuni Tours Ghana to curate an itinerary based on our interests.
Related stories
The guides made sure we didn't have to worry about a single aspect of our trip. They knew the ins and outs of the city and provided our transportation to each activity, too.
I highly recommend working with them or another local Ghana-based tour company, but be sure to read reviews first.
We visited many sites in Accra, Cape Coast, and the Volta Region
We stayed at the Kempinski Hotel in Ghana's capital, Accra, for a week. It's centrally located and is one of few five-star hotels in Accra.
When we weren't on our daily excursions, the Kempinski's pool and spa were the perfect respite. Getting the hotel breakfast, which we could add on to our stay, was also a great way to start each day.
While in Accra, we visited iconic landmarks such as Independence Square, Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, Makola Market, and the W.E.B. DuBois Centre. We also enjoyed the city's vibrant nightlife.
On a different day, we drove three hours to the Cape Coast region and visited the Cape Coast Castle .
This was once a trading post from which thousands of enslaved Africans set off for their forced journey across the Atlantic Ocean. There, we were able to go through the "Door of No Return," which they would've passed through to be led onto ships. It was a moving experience that's not to be missed.
We also received traditional Ghanaian names from a local tribal chief who welcomed us "home" as descendants of Africa.
While in the Volta Region, we took a 30-minute boat ride at the Royal Senchi Resort and then had the most delicious lunch at the hotel restaurant. It was about two hours away from Accra, but worth the drive to see another region in Ghana.
We ate and drank well throughout the trip
We tried to strike the perfect balance between trying new Ghanaian dishes and enjoying other foods from around the world .
We ate traditional dishes such as jollof rice (a dish made with tomatoes, chiles, and spices), banku (fermented dough balls), and kelewele (spicy fried plantains). We even took a cooking class with a local chef to learn how to make traditional dishes.
For lunch, we went to local eateries like Chez Clarisse and Buka. For dinner, we stopped at several more upscale restaurants, like Shogun and Bella Afrik.
This was the best way for me to spend my 40th birthday
Celebrating my 40th in Ghana was not just about the destination; it was about creating lasting memories filled with adventure, culture, and relaxation.
With its welcoming people, rich history, and stunning landscapes, Ghana offered an unforgettable experience that made my milestone birthday truly special.

TCU Football: Dykes Meets with Media after Friday's Fall Camp Practice
Carson wersal | aug 16, 2024.
- TCU Horned Frogs
The TCU head football coach, Sonny Dykes met with the media after Friday's practice for the final time during fall camp. Dykes had a lot to say about fall camp and how he feels his team has performed thus far.
Overall, Dykes said he was impressed with the defense during camp, adding that they seem to excel at rebounding when scored on. When asked about how the offensive line battle has gone Sonny responded: "We're gonna be bouncing guys around. There's gonna be a lot of competition. If you look at the left guard spot, there are really three guys fighting for it."
When asked about Paul Oyewale and his injury, Dykes expressed that the coaching staff has rotated guys in and out of the defensive tackle spot, but said Nana has been the most consistent so far during camp. Sonny added afterward that Oyewale will be increasing the workload soon on the road to recovery.
After the first few days of fall camp, Coach Dykes said that he and Josh Hoover talked about the quarterback position. Dykes explained: "The biggest part of playing that position in my mind is understanding really who you are...the guy that can throw it 80 yards is different than the guy who can maybe throw it 35-40 yards...the thing that's unique about Josh is that he doesn't have to throw the ball all the way down the field."
One of the highlights of Friday's presser was when Sonny was asked if the Big 12 conference is the most competitive conference in the country. He responded: "The thing that makes the Big 12 unique is that there are no layups... I don't know if it's the most competitive league but I can assure you one thing, it's the smartest league because they play those layups in week 10"
The head coach closed the presser by saying that the best point of growth for the team throughout fall camp was the ability to understand what the standard is and how to meet and exceed that standard every day.

Rory the great.
Rory was an amazing guide. He knows the area inside and out and took us straight to some places in his van where other people had to walk, walk, walk. He made us feel like VIPs. He is also very personable and easy to chat with. We very much enjoyed our experience and would highly recommend him to anyone.
Breathtaking tour
We had a great day with Rory for the Kerry & Skellig Ring tour. The tour was extremely informative and we had lots of great stops with amazing views and photo opportunities! It was by far one of our best vacation days and an amazing memory of our trip!
Great tour with Rory!
Rory was great – he grew up in Dingle and was very knowledgeable about the area. This was the prettiest part of Ireland we visited and he didn’t rush the tour. We were able to explore beaches and take pictures along the way. I would highly recommend this tour – it was fantastic.
Wonderful day tour!
Rory was a wonderful tour guide and we had an excellent day tour. His car was clean and comfortable.
Breathtaking views
We had wonderful day tour! Rory was very accommodating and brought us to nice spots and breathtaking views.
We could not have asked for better
We had a 4 hour private tour of Dingle Peninsula with Seamus today & it was excellent. We could not have asked for better. He educated us on all things Dingle Peninsula, some I had read about, some only the locals would know. He has family history & relatives here as well. Much better than us doing it on our own. Well worth it!! I highly recommend!! We would do it again!! & have him take us other places too! He’s very kind & friendly!

A must take tour in dingle.
Highlight of the trip so far! Rory was an excellent tour guide, showing us all around the Dingle peninsula with the added bonus of not having to drive on narrow coastal roads. We saw everything from the main tourist attractions to not well known gems. He was extremely knowledgeable of the area and eager to answer any and all of our questions. He even pointed us to some wonderful recommendations for future spots on our trip. 100% worth the money and would recommend to anyone traveling to the area.
Fantastic Tour!
What an amazing day! Rory navigated us around the narrow roads of Slea Head Drive, pointing out sites and stopping at places we would have completely missed if we had attempted on our own. He answered all of our questions about Ireland, was knowledgeable and personable, and even gave us tips for our upcoming travels around the rest of the country! I highly recommend this tour and will certainly book again the next time I’m in the Dingle Peninsula!

Best way to tour the dingle peninisula.
Highlight of our trip to Ireland! We left the driving to Rory (a relief for my husband) and learned so much about the history, the culture, the scenery, the sheep, the food – anything we asked, Rory knew! Plenty of time at each stop to ramble around and take photos – never felt rushed. Will definitely engage Dingle Slea Head Tours for future visits – recommend highly!

From london.
It was a lovely experience in general. We had a very short time to visit London but this cruise gave us the opportunity to see some of the best views in the city and from such a privileged point of view. The cruise was two hours of nice, quiet, relaxing sightseeing. We were welcomed with a glass of prosecco and during the trip a small assortment of canapés were served. (Don't expect a dinner, it's more like an aperitif.) It was easy to find the pier, the staff was friendly and all in all just a very good experience.

Tower of London with Crown Jewels , February 2022
Tickets arrived on time via email and so easy to download on my phone. No paperwork to carry around. Easy access at the ticket gate. No tourists so the day wasnt as busy as it should be in the height of Summer but because of that I saw the Crown Jewels for the first time in three visits.

Louvre Museum: Skip the Line Tickets , January 2022
Thank you for your good service and follow up email the day of our museum visit. Initially I tried to sign up and found out, with the help of your customer service rep. that my order did not go through and I was not charged...so tried again and it all went well until the next day when I still had not received my tdickets. Another email to customer service corrected the problem and I received my tickets. A shakey start with one problem all mine and another yours but it all ended up OK. I will use you again. Thank you.

Herculaneum Archeologist Guided Tour: Skip The Line Tickets , January 2022
The guided tour was awesome! The tour guide from Askos was extremely knowledgeable and well versed in the history, traditions and culture of the area and surrounding ruin sites. Mike (tour guide) did not hesitate to assist a family with two small irritable children find the quickest way out that were part of the group not only in a kind manner, but quickly returned to the tour and got us right back in the immersion of the locale. While we personally did not ask many, Mike was very receptive and open to questions through out the tour and at the end and gave us directions to sites that we didn't have time to cover. It was amazing and I learned a lot!

The guide was very knowledgable and helpful. She was very patient since my husband is blind and moves slowly so she made arrangement where to let us rest for a short time and meet the group again. As an extra she led us after the long visit of the Acropolis in the less known parts of the Plaka. She was realy wonderful .

Ticket booking was relatively straightforward. Arrangements on site we excellent with social distancing arrangements. Overall a good experience. Only issue is parking. We travelled quite a distance. With a baby, it was difficult to use public transport. So if at least arrangements can be made just for parent child car parking, that would be good

Up At The O2: Everything was very smooth, lovely people there to meet and greet, our master was funny, he ensured we had a good experience, his knowledge at the top was brilliant, he knew all the skyline, and I felt safe. Must admit it was harder than I envisaged, but most things are these days. but so glad I was able to experience this, and ticked something off my bucket list. Thanks to all the team, you.

Dubai Ice Rink Tickets , February 2022
Booked online with Headout whilst standing in the queue at the Dubai Ice Rink as we realised the prices were cheaper than at the ticket counter. It was an easy purchase and the tickets were received via email immediately. When we got to the front of the line we just opened the pdf attached tickets and they scanned them on my phone. We paid an extra AED 45 for a snowman skating aid for a child but the skates and lockers were free. It's cold, take a sweatshirt. Very fun 90 minutes, our family loved it.

Every member of staff we met had time to speak to us, where very well informed and made our visit even more brilliant. Kew its self is awsome, a credit to those there now and those no longer there. We are planning to return for the February orchid show. Thank all of you for a fantastic day.

Cincinnati quarterfinals: Swiatek and Andreeva face off for the first time

CINCINNATI -- The quarterfinals are set at the Cincinnati Open, where a new champion will be crowned. World No.1 Iga Swiatek leads the last eight, along with No.3 Aryna Sabalenka and, fresh off her National Bank Open title, No.6 Jessica Pegula.
Cincinnati: Scores | Draws | Order of Play
In a week that has seen six Top 10 seeds bow out before the quarterfinal stage, which underdogs will seize their opportunities on Saturday?
We break down the quarterfinal match-ups.
By the numbers: Swiatek sets meeting with Mirra Andreeva in Cincy quarters
By the numbers: sabalenka seals fourth cincinnati quarterfinal berth, pegula wins two matches in one day to make cincinnati quarterfinals, [1] iga swiatek vs. mirra andreeva.
In one of her first interviews on the Hologic WTA Tour, Mirra Andreeva was asked how her game compared to her older sister, Erika, is also working her way on tour. Then 16, Mirra described herself as 'Ons Jabeur' and her sister as 'Iga Swiatek'.
"Now it will be interesting if we will play against each other," Mirra said then . "I really don't know who will win."
17, 109 - At 17y 109d, Mirra Andreeva is the youngest player to reach the Women's Singles QF at the Cincinnati Open, and to claim WTA top five wins on hard and clay court in a season since Anna Kournikova (16y 341d) in 1998. The sisters still haven't had to face each other yet on tour but Mirra will get her first look at the real thing when she faces Swiatek for the first time.
"I, for now, don't feel any stress," Andreeva told WTA Insider after her third-round win over No.5 Jasmine Paolini. "Maybe tomorrow I will, or later in the day.
"But so far, I'm just super excited that finally I get the chance to play against her. I feel like she's, of course, an unbelievable player. She's won a major again this year and bronze medalist at the Olympics, so that kind of says something, that she's a great player and she has a lot of confidence."
Then, Andreeva smirked.
"But I feel, so do I," she said. "I have also a little bit of confidence, playing good tennis here. So just super excited for what tomorrow will bring. And I hope this match is going to be entertaining."
Of course, confidence can only take you so far. Swiatek extended her WTA 1000 win streak to 14 after defeating Marta Kostyuk in the third round. She comes into Cincinnati looking to win her fifth WTA 1000 of the season and shore up her confidence ahead of the US Open.
14 - Since Iga Swiatek’s debut on Tour in 2019, only two players have won 14+ consecutive WTA-1000 main draw matches: Iga Swiatek in 2022 (23, Doha-Toronto) and Iga Swiatek in 2024 (14, current streak). Magic. #CincyTennis | @CincyTennis @WTA @WTA_insider pic.twitter.com/9krfG9YjY8 — OptaAce (@OptaAce) August 16, 2024
Head to Head
- Sorry, we couldn't find any players that match your search.
[3] Aryna Sabalenka vs. [10] Liudmila Samsonova
Sabalenka has quietly moved through the draw, posting straight-forward straight-set wins over Elisabetta Cocciaretto and Elina Svitolina. Quiet is what the former No.1 craves right now, as she works to regain the confidence and form that won her the first hard-court Slam of the season in Melbourne.
Sabalenka has not made a hard-court final since her Australian Open title defense. In the last two weeks, she lost to Marie Bouzkova in the Washington D.C. semifinals and Amanda Anisimova in the Toronto quarterfinals. But she's a three-time semifinalist here in Cincinnati, where the lightning-quick hard courts should feed right into her game.
4 - Only Jelena Jankovic (seven), Simona Halep (six) and Serena Williams (five) have made more quarter-finals than Aryna Sabalenka (four) in Cincinnati in the Open Era. Quad. #CincyTennis | @CincyTennis @WTA @WTA_insider pic.twitter.com/EAhkGt3G4P — OptaAce (@OptaAce) August 16, 2024
"Every week is a new tournament and you have to have a short memory," Sabalenka said before the tournament. "That's the thing which helps to keep moving, keep working hard and keep improving.
"Every loss is motivation for me to work harder, to improve things that didn't work in the last match. I know that if you're there and you're fighting for every point and you're truly giving everything you have in practices and matches, I know that you're going to have your opportunities."
She'll have her work cut out for he against No.17 Samsonova, who came from a set down to defeat Elina Avanesyan in the third round. Samsonova holds the edge in their head-to-head, and defeated Sabalenka on North American hard courts last year in Montreal.
Bottom Half
[6] jessica pegula vs. leylah fernandez.
Fresh off her Toronto title, Pegula is back in business on her favorite surface. And while many players have found Cincinnati's courts and balls too quick for their ball-striking, Pegula has leveled up. She came through a double-day on Friday to secure wins over Karolina Muchova and Taylor Townsend.
"It seems like the movement, the fitness, the serve, everything has started to come together the last couple of weeks, which is really nice," Pegula said. "Not perfect every day, but still battling through some tough matches, some tough conditions as well, different types of players.
"Everything has been a really good test and I've been able to take everything as a challenge and move through it pretty well."
Pegula ousts 2023 finalist Muchova in Cincinnati second round
Will Pegula is rounding into form, Leylah Fernandez has made her second WTA 1000 quarterfinal of the year on pure grit. Ranked No.26, Fernandez paved her way through the draw by saving two match points against No.4 Elena Rybakina in the second round. She followed it up with a cleaner performance against Diana Shnaider, winning in straight sets in the third round.
"It gives me a lot of confidence, but I always had confidence that Ii was going to get through it," Fernandez said. "I'm just happy that my game is starting to fall into place. Things are going well and I was happy with how I served today. Still, a couple double faults, but I was able to take advantage of my first-serve percentage. I see the improvements match-by-match."
Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova vs. Paula Badosa
Paula Badosa has her swagger back. After winning her first Hologic WTA Tour title in over two years at the Mubadala Citi DC Open two weeks ago, Badosa continues to storm back up the rankings as she aims to nestle herself back among the game's elite. From the former No.2's perspective, she's outplaying her No.36 ranking by a fair margin.
"I had some goals, like for Australia, I would like to be seeded now, but now I want to be already [seeded] in US Open," Badosa said. "But I always put these expectations. It's part of me, and it's part of that, I keep pushing myself, sometimes too much. That's why I have my coach like to balance that.
"But yeah, of course, my goal is to be as soon as I can possible, to be back where I was before. I feel I belong there."
Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova is the surprise of the final eight. The 33-year-old had not won back-to-back matches since Indian Wells before this week. But nine years after her last Cincinnati quarterfinal appearance, Pavlyuchenkova knocked out two seeds and a former No.1 to earn her place. The 2021 French Open finalist knocked out 17th seed Beatriz Haddad Maia, wild card Caroline Wozniacki, and Olympic champion and World No.7 Zheng Qinwen in the third round.
This will be the second meeting of the season between Pavlyuchenkova and Badosa. The Spaniard took the first in straight sets at the Australian Open.

STL tickets from Headout to Basilica San Marco
It was easy to buy the reserved STL (skip-the-line) tickets from the site, and they worked like a charm. If regular advanced tickets are sold out, I'll be checking Headout first to see if they have any more. It was worth the convenience fee (3 EUR/ticket) charged on top of the regular price of the ticket.

We got the tour in Spanish and it was good but really fast
We got the tour in Spanish. The group was small and the guide was friendly and knew a lot of information about the topic, also he answered all our questions related to the castle and other information of the city and how it works. The only problem we found was that the tour was really fast, without stops to sit or relax or enough time to take some photos. Also, from the 3 hours that the tour was supposed to be, it only took 2 hours from the starting point (which was 15 minutes from the castle) In general a good tour, but too fast and without time to assimilate all the information the guide gave.

Such a dream of a day! Mont Saint Michel Abbey is breathtaking with stunning architecture and lovely 360 degree views of the surrounding bay and its tides. We did not think about organizing a visit to the Abbey until we got there, and being able to purchase them online using Headout saved us a lot of waiting. In the end, the self-guided tour was well worth the tickets and absolutely remarkable. The old city buildings and atmosphere truly made it an unforgettable day.

An excellent excursion organised by the great team at Headout
We had a wonderful trip to the Wieliczka Salt Mine. The representatives organised by Headout who provided our tickets were polite, punctual and knowledgeable. The Salt mines are truly unique, the guide was very knowledgeable and fun. The trip was excellent value for money and you walk a fair way underground so you will get your steps as well. The carvings were exceptional. A great afternoon! Thank you

Good coverage of the London city…
Good coverage of the London city attractions with people being able to see all the major sights. River cruise was excellent as well and I would recommend it to be done once (though the sunny weather played a big part in making it enjoyable along with the commentary of the staff). Red and blue lines were good and fairly easy to jump from one to the other based on the map provided. Bus frequency could be an issue at times and because of that I would recommend the 48 hour package and not the 24 hours especially with young kids or older parents. The app helpful only a few times in determining when the next bus would arrive

Awesome view!
The exhibitions and the building is awesome! We spent more than 1 hour in the building, we had a wonderful weather, so the view was very good! We visited the sights what we see from the terrace. Highly recommended!

Had a wonderful day here!
Here you can find plenty of beautiful animals and themes. I’ve also learned a lot about the ocean ! I was alone and spent 4 hours here, which is enough to see everything. Although the price is too high, still a good experience. I’d recommend visiting Mo-Thu because it can be very full on the weekends.
Don't expect an easy time getting refunded
The company Headout used to book an excursion cancelled the day before it was set to take place. This was back at the end of June. It is now August and I'm still awaiting a refund from this trip, despite multiple contacts and conversations had with their customer services team. Buyer beware, they will hold onto your money unnecessarily.

Thank You HeadOut!
Using HeadOut allowed me to really explore Barcelona! It was so simple to use and I honestly I loved the experience. There was no additional cost to purchase this ticket. The price of this ticket was exactly the same as if you would have bought it in Barcelona which I LOVED! My only problem with HeadOut is the collection process. My flight landed after their offices closed for the night so I had to pay to get to my hotel and back to the airport the next day even AFTER having purchased the ticket. I feel as though you should be able to download a mobile version of the ticket as soon as you purchase it. Having to find places to validate it did add funds and another obstacle to my journey. Other than that, this was such a great buy! Thank you HeadOut!!!
A lovely chance to see Stratford
We know Stratford quite well but really enjoyed the different view from the top of the bus and the commentary. I would say the route covers all the significant sights in the area and some things and places that we didn't know about were highlighted in the commentary. The drivers were friendly and drove well. I booked the tickets online while we were at the bus stop because we didn't go to the main stop - this was very easy, except for not recognising the name Headout when my card security messaged me. It might have said something on the website about this but I didn't see it.

Booked an English guided tour of Basilica Di San Marco, Venice. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND! Guide was late. Tour guide was very poor quality. BOOK €6 ticket directly from Basilica website and take audio tour. Much cheaper and better.
Well organized
We have a guide, nice one, telling you things, letting you discover the history of the place. We have headphones for listening the guide, very good and useful. We do not wait with the others and we start visiting quite quickly. The experience is well organized as well, so all ok.

After buying tickets for Maiden Tower…
After buying tickets for Maiden Tower in Instanbul, we arrived got in queue and when they scanned our tickets they were expired. I had to buy tickets in the kiosk as the boat was leaving, I contacted headout and they said I will resend the tickets, I do not need the tickets now I had already purchased tickets and half way to Maiden Tower what I want is refund but it seems it is against there policy after all the hustle they have caused me. Beware
Hey Albert, I'm very sorry for what has happened 😞. This is definitely not the Headout experience we'd want you to have, so I've personally spoken to all concerned teams to ensure it never happens again. I've refunded the full amount you paid for this reservation to your original payment method. This refund will reflect in your account within the next 2-3 business days, depending on your bank and have sent confirmation of this to you via email. I hope this brightens your day a bit! If you have any questions, just reply to our email and we'll take care of it! 💜 - Samson

Headout refused the re-entry stated on the website
When booking Windsor Castle tickets on their official website, we were directed to Headout to make the payment. We we told on visiting the castle that we could not visit again for free within the years promised on the official website, because we had booked directly with Headout. This is not the case, we were on the official website and taken to there.

Travel tips for Greece trips
From the snow-capped mountains of the north to the sandy beaches of the south, Greece has something to offer everyone. Ancient cities, picturesque islands, and a stunning coastline along the Aegean Sea await. Whether you’re looking for a place to explore history, dive into local culture, or relax on the shore, Greece offers tempting options for travelers. On our guided tours of Greece, you’ll find itineraries for travelers of all types, making it easy to find the one that fits your interests.
- Meteora, Athens, or Delphi. Greece is home to some of the most important historical sites in the world, including the Acropolis, Parthenon, and Temple of Zeus. These sites offer a glimpse into the ancient world and its rich culture. If you’re a history buff, our Week in Ancient Greece: Athens, Delphi & Olympia tour is right up your alley.
- The Greek Islands or Pelion. If sunshine and coastlines are more your style, island-hopping in the Aegean Sea is a good option for you. Take two weeks to explore all they have to offer on our The Greek Islands: Mykonos, Santorini & Crete tour .
- Mykonos and Santorini. For first-time visitors and those who only have a week to get away, our shorter Greece tours are a great way to go. Our A Week in Greece: Athens, Mykonos & Santorini tour introduces you to the highlights of each location—and leaves you with vacation days to spare.
A Greek Islands tour has something for every type of traveler—beach lovers, foodies, hikers, and history buffs. Here are five of the best islands to visit in Greece (you can learn more about them in our guide to the Greek Islands ):
- Mykonos. A favorite of jet setters, Mykonos has all the ingredients for a good time: gorgeous beaches, bohemian-chic restaurants, and lots of options for nightlife and entertainment.
- Santorini. The beaches here are famous not for their golden sand, but for their black-and-red-rock sand. Head to the hilltop town of Oia at sunset for the quintessential Santorini experience.
- Paxos. If you’re a beach lover, Paxos has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. The sand is soft and white, and the water is clear, making it perfect for snorkeling or scuba diving.
- Naxos. Looking for stunning beaches, lush vegetation, and traditional villages? Naxos offers it all. The village of Apiranthos is known for its whitewashed houses and cobbled streets.
- Crete. The largest of the Greek Islands, Crete offers beautiful beaches, scenic hikes, and interesting history. It’s also considered the culinary hub of the islands.
There’s no question about it: This country always makes a great getaway. In recent years, especially, it’s become a clear favorite, with Greece travel packages in high demand. Summer is the most popular time for visitors, and the islands tend to become crowded with sun-seeking adventurers then.
If you have the flexibility to travel at other times of the year, the best time to visit Greece is in the off-season. When temperatures are cooler, you’ll be able to immerse yourself in the true essence of the country. Check out one of our Greece guided tours, A Week in Ancient Greece: Athens, Delphi & Olympia , which is specifically designed to make the most of the cooler months.
Certain islands aren’t accessible during the winter, but this time of year is excellent for visiting the mainland. Hop between Mykonos and Santorini in the fall and spring for the ultimate Greek getaway.
In a land of rich history, rugged ruins, and remarkable beauty, the must-see destinations on our trips to Greece focus heavily on ancient attractions. But it’s not all about history. The towns, cities, and islands where you’ll find the top attractions offer exciting venues to explore, both old and new.
- The Acropolis. One of the most important archaeological sites in the world and a masterpiece of classical Greek architecture, the Acropolis is home to some of the most iconic landmarks in Greece, including the Parthenon, Erechtheion, and Temple of Athena Nike. Its museum houses more than 3,000 artifacts, from sculptures to jewelry, and offers stunning views of the Acropolis and the city of Athens.
- Ancient Agora. Originally the center of political, social, and religious life in Athens, this site was home to significant buildings, including temples, stoas, and law courts (the trial of Socrates took place here). Today, it’s a popular tourist destination featuring museums, archaeological sites, shops, and restaurants.
- Temple of Olympian Zeus. One of the largest temples in the ancient world, this colossal temple in Athens is dedicated to Zeus. While only 15 of the original 104 marble columns remain standing, the ruins are among the most impressive in Greece.
- Panathenaic Stadium. The site of the first modern Olympic Games in 1896 and the 2004 Summer Olympics, this ancient stadium in Athens, made entirely of marble, was built in the fourth century B.C. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is also a popular venue for concerts and other events.
- Acropolis of Lindos. Set on a high cliff overlooking the Aegean Sea on the island of Rhodes, the Acropolis of Lindos is a beautiful and well-preserved archaeological site featuring a number of temples and other ruins.
- Palace of Knossos. This ancient palace located on Crete, with its amazing frescoes and artifacts from the Minoan civilization, is one of the most important archaeological sites in Greece.
- Samariá Gorge. A national park located on the island of Crete, Samariá Gorge is one of the longest gorges in Europe and a popular destination for hiking and camping.
- Meteora monasteries. This group of monasteries, located in central Greece, is built on top of towering sandstone pillars and offers stunning views of the surrounding countryside.
- Santorini. The island of Santorini is one of the most popular destinations on trips to Greece. It is known for its stunning caldera, whitewashed buildings, and blue-domed churches.

There are many popular activities to experience on our tours of Greece, considering the country’s rich history and culture. Some of the most popular things to do include:
- Visiting historical sites. Greece is home to countless historical sites, such as Delphi and the ancient Acropolis, as well as Olympia, where the Olympic Games were born.
- Exploring the countryside. Mountain villages, scenic peninsulas, and pine forests make Greece’s beautiful countryside a pleasure to discover.
- Enjoying the food. Greek food is famous for its use of fresh, seasonal ingredients and simple yet flavorful cooking methods. Wine and food tasting excursions on our Greece tours allow you to sample the best of Greek food and wine.
- Visiting museums and galleries. Greece’s museums and galleries are a testament to the country’s rich history and culture. You’ll find artifacts from Greece’s most important archaeological digs in the Acropolis Museum and the National Archaeological Museum.
- Taking a cooking class. Cooking classes are a hands-on way to learn about Greek cuisine and culture, and they’re also a lot of fun. Many of our Greece tour packages offer added excursions where you’ll learn how to make traditional foods and enjoy your creations.
- Tasting wines. Produced in a variety of climates and settings—from the hot, dry climate of the Peloponnese peninsula to the cooler, wetter climate of the northern regions—Greek wines are known for their variety of styles, which include light and refreshing whites and full-bodied reds. On our Food & Wine: A Taste of Greece tour , you can explore the country’s different varietals.
- Relaxing on the islands. There are more than 6,000 Greek islands; the best are home to stunning scenery, delicious food, and beautiful beaches. If you’re planning a trip to this Mediterranean nation, make sure you visit these six islands . (Our Greek Islands tour takes you to three of them!)
Greece has typical Mediterranean weather—usually mild, wet winters and hot, dry summers. However, the weather can vary greatly depending on the region and time of year, so checking the forecast before traveling on any of our Greece tour packages is essential.
- Respect for traditions. Greeks are very proud of their culture and history, so it is important to be respectful of their traditions. This includes dressing appropriately for visits to religious sites.
- Greeting people. It is customary to greet people with a handshake and a kiss on the cheek. Of course, you can choose what feels comfortable for you.
- Dining. While in some countries it is considered rude to not finish your meal, in Greece it is considered polite to leave some food on your plate at the end of a meal.
- Tipping. It is customary to tip in Greece, but the amount is up to you. A tip of 10–15% is generally considered acceptable.
- Greek Orthodox Church holidays and festivals. Pay attention to the calendar because many businesses are closed on these days.
Greek food is famous for its use of fresh, seasonal ingredients, its simple yet flavorful cooking methods, and its emphasis on healthy eating. Trips like our Food & Wine: A Taste of Greece tour are guaranteed to be full of meals featuring fresh, delicious fruits and vegetables. Some typical ingredients in Greek cuisine include olive oil and feta cheese, as well as grilled fish and meat. Some of the most popular dishes to try on Greece trips include:
- Souvlaki. A grilled skewer of meat, usually lamb or pork, served with pita bread, tomatoes, onions, and tzatziki.
- Gyros. This is a similar dish to souvlaki, but the meat in gyros is cooked on a vertical rotisserie. You can find this popular street food all over the country.
- Moussaka. A traditional Greek baked dish made with layers of eggplant, ground beef, béchamel sauce, and feta cheese.
- Spanakopita. Served as an appetizer or main course, this savory pie is created with fresh spinach and feta cheese enclosed in crispy phyllo dough. Spanakopita is best enjoyed warm.
- Tzatziki. On a hot day, this refreshing dip made from yogurt, cucumbers, garlic, and herbs hits the spot. Enjoy it served with pita bread, vegetables, or meats.
- Olives. Olives are grown in many parts of Greece, but the Peloponnese region is the largest producer. The dark purple Kalamata olive, famous for its rich flavor, is one of the most well-known varieties of Greek olives.
- Feta cheese. This traditional Greek cheese—salty, tangy, and crumbly—has been produced for centuries. Often used in salads, dips, and sauces, feta makes a delicious snack or appetizer.
Greek is the most widely spoken language in Greece; however, English is widely spoken in popular areas.
The euro. To stock up on local currency, order some euros from your bank before you go, or use your debit card at an ATM once you arrive. For tips on using the euro while on a trip to Greece, check out our blog on currency exchange .
We recommend packing light for your trip to Greece. One suitcase and one carry-on per person is a good guideline to follow; you should feel comfortable managing your baggage at the airport. If you’re visiting the islands, you’ll likely have to bring your bag with you on the ferry, so make sure you’re comfortable carrying it. After you’ve booked one of our Greece tour packages, we’ll give you information about how to prepare for your particular trip and even share a packing list in our mobile app.
- Sun protection. For all our trips, especially during the summer months in Greece, we recommend bringing sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat to protect your face and the back of your neck from the sun.
- Layers. We recommend packing lightweight, loose-fitting clothing that can be easily layered to accommodate varying temperatures, as well as a light jacket or rainwear.
- Comfortable walking shoes. Since you’ll be exploring new destinations with local guides, a comfortable pair of walking shoes is essential to have with you. Those walking shoes will come in handy while exploring the rugged ruins of Ancient Greece or the volcanic shores of Santorini.
- Dressier attire. If you plan to visit a high-end restaurant or attend a special performance on our trips to Greece, you may want to pack dressier attire.
- Full-coverage layers for religious sites. On our Greece tours, it is preferable not to visit churches, temples, or other religious sites with bare legs or shoulders, and staff at these sites may deny entrance on this basis.
- A small day bag. Many churches and museums will not allow you to bring in large backpacks for security purposes—you’ll need to check them at the door. However, you can wear a small day bag on your front, like a cross-body travel bag or stylish mini backpack.
- An RFID money belt or wallet. Greece’s city streets can get busy, and like in any country with many tourists, you’ll want to be wary of pickpockets. Radio-frequency identification (RFID) can protect your credit card info from electronic theft, and a money belt will conceal your cash without ruining your outfit.
Once you’ve reserved one of our tour packages to Greece, we’ll send you detailed information about what to bring with you. Don’t forget to download the Go Ahead app before you take off, so you’ll have all the info you need about your trip right in your pocket.
