How to get there

Where do i check-in.

Check-in is done online. A few days before your departure, you will receive a “check-in reminder” email with a “clickable” link that will guide you through the check-in process.

Once you have completed your check in, you will receive your boarding pass for the boat with instructions on how to get to marina, as well as meeting time and location.

Where do I go?

Coral Sea Marina (previously Abell Point Marina) has two departure areas which will be shown on your boarding pass after you complete your online check in. Taxi is approx. $10. Buses do go to the Southern end of the marina but limited service. By foot! Bicentennial walk follows the foreshore from Airlie Beach Lagoon – To the Northern end of the marina is approx. 15 min walk and to the Southern end approx. 20min.

There is a council car park at the South end of the Marina where you can leave your vehicle for the duration of your stay at a daily charge. Whitsundays Sailing Adventures are not affiliated with this car park.

Important Information

This tour is not suitable for children.

It is the responsibility of all passengers travelling to advise both your travel agent at the time of booking and vessel check-in agent before boarding of any medical conditions including food allergies you may suffer from.

You need to allow adequate time to check-in prior to the specified departure time.

Cancellation Policy

A minimum of 14 days' notice is required to re-schedule or alter all or part of a reservation.

Any date and/or name change will incur a $20 administration fee.

We are required to notify the operator of any cancellations within the specified cancellation period. It is your responsibility to make sure you submit your cancellation request with adequate time, and during our standard business hours (9 am-5 pm), to allow us to contact the tour provider. All cancellation requests must be in writing and sent via email to: [email protected] . Any emails received outside of these hours will be considered received the following day.

Cancellation fees:

• 15 days or more before departure: 20% cancellation fee
• Within 14 days before departure and for "No Show": 100% cancellation fee

There will be no refund of any part of your tour costs should you fail to arrive at a scheduled tour departure time. Tour departures may not be delayed due to passenger circumstances - including events beyond your control, medical problems, airline delays, weather, etc.

The Service Operator reserves the right to change prices, modify itineraries, impose a fuel surcharge, cancel departures, arrange alternative transport, and adjust itineraries and services as necessary.

All departures and itineraries are subject to weather conditions. Tours may be altered or cancelled at the discretion of the Service Operator for any reason. If the Service Operator cancels the trip or activity before departure and cannot provide a suitable alternative, a refund will be issued, minus a 20% administration fee and any applicable card fees. We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance , particularly during the wet season.

There is no age limit, however you must be ‘young at heart’, fit and able to move about a boat unassisted and understand the adventurous and social nature of our tours. Some under 18’s may be accepted on board by request
• No large bags or suitcases will be accepted on-board. Luggage can be stored at most accommodation locations or at the Red Cat Adventures shop in Airlie Beach for a small fee
• Accommodation on all boats is made up of single and double beds in open shared dorm style cabins/sections below deck. From April-September our maximum capacity is normally 18-20 guests ensuring all guests have their own bed (unless they would like to share a double). During peak season (October-March) our capacity can reach higher numbers of up to 23-30 (depending on the boat) with sharing of double beds.
• Once this experience has been confirmed, changes are at the discretion of the experience provider and arranged with them directly according to this policy
• Cancellations made outside 7 days of departure will incur no fee
• Cancellations made within 7 days of departure will result in the forfeiture of your booking
• Date changes can be accepted without a fee up to seven days prior to departure

Some of the most fun I’ve ever had was out on the water around the Whitsunday Islands, on this first tour. The Ocean Rafting Tour to Whitehaven Beach and Hill Inlet Lookout  is the perfect way to spend a day, balancing relaxation and education with adventure quite nicely.

The vessel is spacious enough to sleep 32 passengers, with climate control to ensure everyone is comfortable at all hours of the day and night.

It is a great opportunity to make new friends, and the small group setting made it almost feel like one, big family. While there were moments where the weather got quite cold in the evening, and the water got a bit choppy at times, but everything was well-handled.

We then hopped in our plane where we took a seat and enjoyed the large viewing windows, with simply jaw-dropping views of the beaches and vibrant turquoise waters, below.

I was already enamored by the incredible beauty of the Great Barrier Reef from our bird’s-eye view, but once we touched down on the ground, we then got to experience it up close.

Setting off on an exhilarating ocean rafting adventure, we zipped around to explore hidden coves, secluded beaches, and the bright coral reefs! Our expert guides did a great job instructing us on snorkeling and pointing out the diverse marine life.

Back on dry land, we had plenty of time to relax and unwind on the perfectly soft, white sands of Whitehaven Beach.

We arrived at the Shute Harbour Marine Terminal early in the morning, where we were greeted by the friendly staff and led onboard the luxurious catamaran. I noticed that ours was one of the bigger vessels in the harbor, which ended up being a huge bonus as that day was a bit windy.

The size of the catamaran greatly reduced the sway of the vessel, and obviously offered more than enough room to move around and get comfortable. The captain was one of the more friendly I’ve encountered, and did a lovely job of narrating along our trip.

They pointed out marine life when they popped up, offering us the chance to take plenty of photos and videos.

Upon arrival to the Whitsunday Islands, we took a scenic, guided walk up to the famous lookout over Hill Inlet, which is one of the most beautiful experiences I’ve ever had.

After that, we had a delicious lunch onboard, which consisted of a wide array of different dishes, drinks, and there was something for every taste. After that, we digested a bit while cruising around the Solway Circuit Walking Track on Whitehaven Beach as we took in the gorgeous views.

We felt safe, well tended to, and almost like “VIPS” – definitely give this tour a good look!

This is another one of the longer tour experiences that I absolutely loved, taking place on an 82-foot maxi yacht that offers a unique, exhilarating way to explore the Whitsunday Islands and Great Barrier Reef Marine Park.

The 2-Night Whitsundays Sailing Cruise incl. Whitehaven Beach & Great Barrier Reef  boasts a nice combination of adventure, comfort, and natural beauty.

From the moment I stepped aboard, I was treated like royalty by the friendly crew, who seemed determined to ensure we had the time of our lives on the water.

With a sleek design and large deck spaces, there were endless ocean views, lots of soaking up the sun, and opportunity for relaxation. It’s a great way to experience this region on your terms, choosing what you want to do, when you want to do it.

I chose to go snorkeling with many others on board, and we made stops at the famous Luncheon Bay, Caves Cove, Blue Pearl Bay, and a couple of other cool spots.

They provided all snorkeling gear, wetsuits, and the guides were there to help teach the newbies how to snorkel. However, I also made sure I relaxed on the white sand beaches while the tall palm trees swayed in the nice sea breeze.

Another highlight of my tour was spotting whales, dolphins, turtles, and many other amazing sea critters, thanks to the assistance of the crew who pointed them out to us!

I loved the tasty lunch buffet, with all kinds of fresh dishes made with local ingredients, offering insight into the type of cuisine they do best here.

One of the highlights for me was enjoying our lunch in the open air, with the nice little breeze blowing by – it seemed sureal. No matter the age or background of traveler, I highly recommend this beautiful experience.

There are no private rooms but Hammer has a mixture of nice clean dorm accommodations single and double bunks. The boat has a nice social atmosphere and plays music at night for guests to relax and have a few drinks. This tour is perfect for the adventure traveller.

Hammer Whitsundays  Tour visits Whitehaven Beach for around 4 to 5 hours. During this time you embark on a bush-walk from Tongue Point (northern end of Whitehaven), this walk takes approximately 15 minutes, once at the top you will experience Whitehaven Beach above on the viewing platform. This breathtaking view from here lets you see all 7 km of the beach as well as the world-famous swirling sands that form the inlet

Snorkelling

During your two day tour, you will get at least three opportunities to snorkel the coral-filled bays on the coastal fringes of the islands. Here you can see turtles, Maori wrasse, batfish, parrotfish, clownfish (Nemo) plus plenty more! In most bays, the coral starts close to shore and is easily accessible by the small tender boats. For the non-confident swimmers, there are noodles and flotation devices available for safety.

If you don’t have much luggage (which hopefully you won’t!) we highly recommend walking to the meeting point along the Airlie Beach Boardwalk (Bicentennial Walkway). This runs from Airlie Beach Main Street all the way to Cannonvale and has beautiful views. Please allow 30 minutes from the main street if you do choose to walk.

Alternatively, you can catch a taxi using the 13CABS app, call 13CABS, or use the rank in the main street. If you’re driving, type in ‘Bohemian Raw Café’ and it will take you there. Affectionately named ‘Boho’ by the locals, this is a great spot for morning coffee or breakfast on the day of your departure. Just keep in mind it gets busy so allow enough time

Welcome to the tropics!

Our winter months run from May – September and are usually unbeatable in terms of weather. We recommend a warm coat to shield you from the wind after a snorkel during this time.

Our summer months which run from November – March can be extremely hot and humid with passing thunderstorms. 

Our vessels are custom built for the Whitsunday conditions. If weather becomes dangerous our local harbour master will close down the marina and tours will be cancelled (this is not a common occurrence). Please see ‘travel insurance’ below.

Alcohol is BYO (bring your own). Purchase your alcohol before you meet at the Marina – there is no bottle shop at the Marina. We have big eskies with ice (we supply the ice) to help keep your beverages chilled onboard. Please bring an appropriate amount for the duration of your tour and be aware that any glass bottles and red wine are not to be taken on the vessel. It is best to just buy cans.

##SOFT DRINKS, WATER, TEA AND COFFEE

Soft drinks can be purchase on board for $4.00. Cash payment is greatly appreciated. 

We have a filtered water tap on board so please bring your own drink bottle.

Tea, coffee & hot chocolate is included however for safety reasons we do not provide tea or coffee while our vessel is sailing or motoring around the islands.

##DIETARY REQUIREMENTS

Food allergies and dietary requirements need to be requested at time of booking. We will do our best to cater to your dietary requirements.

Passengers with anaphylactic allergies/reactions must carry an epi-pen or appropriate medication or you will be refused boarding.

##BAG STORAGE

You can store your luggage at most accommodation locations. Otherwise, you can store it at the Red Cat Adventures office in the main street of Airlie Beach (350 Shute Harbour Road). They offer secure and insured bag storage from $5.

##CAR PARKING

Coral Sea Marina South Village (southern end) has car parking for $10.00 per day. This is cash or card payment. Please ensure you pay when you arrive and correctly display the ticket in your car window for the duration of your tour.

##SEA SICKNESS

Our vessels are well designed for sailing in the Whitsundays. If you do suffer from travel sickness, please come prepared with your own travel sickness medication (this can be purchased before hand from the LiveLife chemist in town – 366 Shute Harbour Road). Our trained crew will assist as much as possible in making you comfortable, but they are legally not allowed to provide you with medication to alleviate the problem.

##SNORKELLING EQUIPMENT

Masks and snorkel hire are inclusive within the price with an exception to prescription masks. These can be hired from Aqua Dive (found at Coral Sea Marina North End).

Most of our snorkelling locations are in calm bays throughout the Whitsunday Islands. Snorkelling life jackets and floating noodles can be provided as snorkelling aids if required, however fins are not provided to help minimise coral damage. Feel free to bring your own snorkelling equipment if you prefer. You may also bring your own fins if you are experienced in the water using them (and do not damage coral while using them).

##STINGERSUITS

Stinger suits/wetsuits are provided free of charge year-round to all guests. The full-length stinger suits will prevent UV exposure and significantly reduce your risk to marine stingers. These are compulsory to wear during certain months of the year.

##TRAVEL INSURANCE

We strongly encourage all guests travel with travel insurance that includes the following coverage for the following situations: Damaged property, medical emergencies including ambulance cover and travel cancellation and interruption.

Cancellation and Refund Policy

SPECIAL COVID-19 CANCELLATION POLICY: If any passenger cannot make the tour departure date due to Government travel restrictions surrounding COVID-19, Prosail will issue a tour credit to be used within 12 months. Please inform Prosail as soon as you are aware that you cannot make the tour. Proof of travel restriction on the tour departure date may need to be supplied.

Prosail will offer other options, a credit or refund for any cancelled departures due to low numbers or unsafe weather.

For any other cancellations or changes: Cancellations made less than 7 days before departure will result in complete forfeiture of the full price. Cancellations made outside of 7 days before departure will only incur a $35 per person admin & booking fee. Any date changes can be accepted without a fee up to 7 days prior to departure. Please note that the 7 day cancellation policy will always be calculated from original departure date.

Terms and Conditions Of Travel

All prices are per person in AUD and include GST, National Park and Great Barrier Reef Marine Park entry fees, professional skipper and deck hands, live aboard accommodation, all meals, fresh linen, use of snorkelling equipment and snorkel suits. Prices do not include airfares or transfers to and from the marina, accommodation pre or post tour or extras.

Prosail tours are perfect for adventurous singles, couples and groups normally aged between 18-45. We have no age limit, however you must be ‘young at heart’, fit and able to move about a boat unassisted and understand the adventurous and social nature of our tours. All guests must be fit and able to move freely about a boat unassisted.

Choose to try it out solo, or grab your partner and hop on together for a fun couples activity.

Whitsunday Blue is a very spacious vessel that has four private cabins all with ensuites. The interior saloon seats all passengers for evening meals or you can dine under the stars on the aft-deck seating area. Please note three cabins have a private ensuite and one cabin shares an ensuite with the crew, with separate entrances. Blue was constructed in 2004 and is 40 feet in length.

Your Responsibilities:

The minimum age for passengers on Whitsunday Blue is 18 years old. 

You must reconfirm all booked tours prior to travel as specified on your voucher. If applicable, notes such as dietary requirements, pick-up locations and additional fees should also be confirmed at this time. Reconfirmations cannot be actioned through Sailing Whitsundays/Mr Travel, and must be done so directly through the Service Operator as specified on each ticket.

It is your responsibility to notify us of ticket discrepancies. Please read through the details on your voucher thoroughly to ensure all details such as passenger names, ages and dates of travel on vouchers are correct.

It is the responsibility of all passengers travelling to advise both your travel agent at the time of booking and vessel check-in agent before boarding of any medical conditions including food allergies you may suffer from.

You need to allow adequate time to check-in prior to the specified departure time. 

Prices/Extra Costs:

All prices are stated in Australian dollars and include GST. Surcharges over peak holiday seasons may apply. 

The Service Operator reserves the right to alter prices and extra costs. Extra costs may include EMC fees, Stingersuit/Wetsuit Hire, Luggage Storage, Insurance, Linen Hire, National Park Fees, Fuel Levies, Dietary Fees, etc. Bonds may also apply.

We will also endeavour to communicate these extra costs with you at the time of booking, and on your ticket. However, it is your responsibility to confirm which (if any) additional costs apply with each Service Operator upon reconfirming your trip.

Travel Risk/Insurance:

It should be noted that adventure travel involves risk. Whilst we make every effort to safeguard clients, we cannot be responsible for personal injury or loss due to the actions of our clients which are beyond our control. We highly recommend that all clients have travel insurance covering illness, injury, loss or damage to personal belongings and not being able to travel on the confirmed date of departure. You should also ensure your travel insurance will cover special circumstances including weather events preventing guests from travelling to their tour departure destination and cancelled flights due to unforeseen circumstances. 

Merchant Fees:

Please be aware operators pass on credit card merchant fees so there is a non-refundable 1% surcharge for VISA and MASTERCARD card purchases.

All ticket/voucher reissues attract a $20 administration fee.

Open Date Vouchers / Gift Certificate:

Shipping Costs are in addition to the ticket price and will be added at check-out. Shipping costs are non-refundable and do not makeup part of the ticket value. 

E-Vouchers incur no shipping fees. You have 5 years to use the value of the voucher. Seasonal Price Rises will apply if travelling out the current seasons pricing. Vouchers can be exchanged for free up to the full value of the voucher excluding credit card fees and charges.

Cancellations

Client Cancellations:

All cancellations forfeit 25% of the recommended retail price (RRP) - not the discounted/sale price. Cancellations made 60-30 days prior to travel date forfeit 50% of the RRP. No shows or client cancellations made within 30 days of departure forfeit 100% of the total ticket price. 

Transfers between tours can be made at the suppliers discretion, however, it should be noted that supplier fees may apply. Tour transfers also incur a $20 administration fee. 

It is compulsory that all cancellation requests are in writing and sent via email to [email protected]. Cancellations attempted via online chat or phone will not be actioned.

Supplier Cancellations:

The Service Operator reserves the right to alter prices, alter itineraries, apply a fuel surcharge, cancel departures, arrange alternative transport and vary itineraries and services if necessary.

All departures and itineraries are subject to weather. Tours may be changed or cancelled for any reason at the discretion of the Service Operator. If the Service Operator has to cancel the trip or activity (prior to departure) and we cannot offer a suitable alternative, then a refund will be given minus a 20% administration fee and any associated card fees. We strongly recommend that you have travel insurance, especially during the wet season.

In the unlikely event of your trip being cancelled or stood down, all guest communication is required to go through our Online Store via telephone or email. While there is a Sailing Whitsundays retail outlet located Airlie Beach, please be aware that they operate as a separate entity and are unable to access reservations made by the Mr Travel online department.

All refunds are in Australian Dollars and must be made to the card of payment. Sailing Whitsundays/Mr Travel is not liable for exchange rate fluctuations or fees, or any other merchant/bank fees associated with domestic and/or international transactions.

Where a full refund is applicable, there is the option to transfer the whole cost of the tour to another tour or “Credit” to avoid the administration fee. A transfer fee of $20 will apply.

You will be emailed confirmation once the refund has been processed. Once the refund has been processed, it may still take time for the banks to clear the amount. Please allow 7-10 business days for the funds to clear into Australian accounts and up to 21 business days for international accounts.

Accountability/Misconduct:

All Service Operators have the right to provide client feedback and to cancel bookings based off of feedback from other Service Operators.

A three day Whitsundays Cruise

The Whitsundays are 74 islands on the beautiful tropical coast of Queensland in Australia. Because these islands are located right in the heart of the Great Barrier Reef, it’s popular place to dive and snorkel.  Whitehaven beach has some of the whitest sand in the world and is absolutely one of the most beautiful places you can find.  In three days we’ve visited these places, ate some great food and slept on a boat. We haven’t showered or had a good night’s rest for two days, but that actually added more to the whole experience. In this post we share our experience of our three day Whitsundays Cruise. 

A Three Day Whitsundays Cruise

Day 1: Ready for Whitsundays 

Once we were on the boat at 2 pm we started sailing for a few hours to our first stop for the night. Immediately there were great views from the boat and we stopped for a short swim along the way. In the afternoon we got some snacks, and for dinner we enjoyed some barbecued food. During the evening we did some good old-fashioned drinking games and got to know the other people on the boat a little better – including their most embarrassing sex stories. Around 9 pm it was already so dark that it felt later than it actually was. That’s why we went to our cabin to sleep early, but eventually that first night we didn’t sleep at all. The boat rocks back and forth, and if you’re in your cabin – a very tiny cabin actually – you keep rolling around in your bed.

Day 2: Whitehaven Beach

This was the best day . We had to wake up at 6 am, but we were actually already awake because we just didn’t sleep at all. But, surprisingly, we weren’t really that tired. After eating a simple breakfast we sailed up to Whitehaven Beach. We were the first ones there, because it was early and it had rained a bit that night. First we were bummed out, because we were afraid it was going to rain all day – but after one big splash out of the sky the sun came and didn’t leave us the whole day . Whitehaven is really one of the most beautiful places in the world. Make sure you explore as much as you can on the beach, because there is so much to see. For instance; we walked along the coast and found stingrays and lemon sharks in the waters of Hill Inlet .

Whitehaven Beach

This beach is actually been named the South Pacific’s Best Beach by the 2015 TripAdvisor Traveller’s Choice Awards. That means one can really expect something special when you get there, and trust us; you won’t be disappointed. The water is crystal clear, you can see right through it. Whitehaven Beach is seven kilometers long of the whitest sand in the world. The sand is made of 98% pure silica and is of a finer grain than regular beach sand. This gives the white sand a softer feel. Moreover, silica does not absorb the heat from the sun, so you don’t burn yourself on the sand. What is quite a mystery is that the surrounding rocks do not contain silica, meaning that the sand on the island must have been deposited over millions of years of tides carrying the silica grains. Nobody is even sure where it came from. 

The tide shifts the sand and water, creating a beautiful mixture of different blue and white colors. Every time you are visiting Whitehaven Beach, the looks of it are different, because the tide changes every day. It’s never the same; as the tide shifts, the view shifts as well. For a good view you can walk up to the lookout Tongue Point and here you can see the swirling of the turquoise water and white silica sand.

After Whitehaven Beach we sailed to two different spots to snorkel. Both were located at the Great Barrier Reef and we saw a lot of fish, turtles and more. That night we stayed at Blue Pearl Bay and had a simple, tasty pasta for dinner. We already made up our mind that we wouldn’t sleep in our cabin again – to hot and to shaky. After some drinks and again some (strange) drinking games, we slept on deck. We slept much better – it was cooler because of the wind, you didn’t feel the boat rocking as much as in our cabin and we were able to watch the stars all night.

  Day 3: The Great Barrier Reef

We woke up early again and had breakfast. We could immediately go snorkeling, because we were already at the right spot. According to one of our crewmembers Blue Pearl Bay is the best place to snorkel the Great Barrier Reef in Queensland. For us it was the best place we’ve ever snorkeled. There were fish everywhere, and the coral is so beautiful to see. We had so much fun! After snorkeling we sailed back to Airlie Beach and we made sure we booked a nice Airbnb so we could take a shower. On the boat you can only rinse yourself for three minutes maximum a day, without any soap or shampoo.

The Great Barrier Reef

The Great Barrier Reef is probably even more amazing as you can imagine – at least that was what it was like for us. Located off the coast on Queensland in northeastern Australia, this enormous underwater world is actually the largest living thing on Earth and is even visible from outer space. The ecosystem is 2,300 kilometers long and consists out of hundreds of islands and thousands of reefs. The Great Barrier Reef is home to turtles, sharks, starfish, dolphins, crocodiles, countless sorts of colorful fish, more than 100 species of jellyfish, 133 types of sharks and rays and 600 types of soft and hard corals. Turtles and crocodiles have even been around there since prehistoric times! Just to give an idea how big the Great Barrier Reef is: it’s bigger than the United Kingdom, Switzerland and The Netherlands combined.
