WWE Announces Big Card For London Live Event

drew mcintyre 1

Next weekend will see WWE returning to the UK for a live tour, giving fans a glimpse of what it will be like when they return for a reported "major stadium event" later this September.

The company's Twitter page has released the card for the event this Saturday, April 29, and it features some big matches like Roman Reigns vs. Drew McIntyre for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship, RK-Bro vs. The Usos in a non-title Champions vs. Champions match, and many other standout bouts.

"A special night in London awaits! Some of the biggest WWE Superstars will be in town on April 29th Which match are you most excited to see?" WWE's Twitter page asks.

As alluded to earlier, WWE announced earlier this month that "a major stadium event" will emanate from Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, on Saturday, September 3, 2022. This will be the first time since the  1992 SummerSlam at Wembley Stadium that WWE is in the United Kingdom for a stadium show.

Drew McIntyre has made it clear numerous times that he wants a match against Tyson Fury at a stadium event in the United Kingdom, and he reiterated that in a recent interview.

"I'm still angling for that significant UK pay-per-view and I won't shut up until it happens," McIntyre told  TalkSPORT  last year. "Tyson Fury and I have gone back and forth for a long time. If we needed something just a little outside of the box to get people's attention, especially in the U.K. with someone of Fury's stature fighting Drew McIntyre in the battle of Britain, that would really draw some eyes and that's where I'd like to see it."

You can see the full card for Saturday's WWE Live Event in London, England below:

Undisputed WWE Universal Championship Match Roman Reigns (c) vs. Drew McIntyre

SmackDown Women's Championship Match Charlotte Flair (c) vs. Ronda Rousey

Champions vs. Champions WWE RAW Tag Team Champions RK-Bro vs. WWE SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos

Intercontinental Championship Triple Threat Match Ricochet (c) vs. Butch vs. Sami Zayn

WWE Women's Tag Team Championship Match Sasha Banks & Naomi (c) vs. Shayna Baszler & Natalya

Bobby Lashley vs. Sheamus w/ Ridge Holland

Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Gunther

Aliyah vs. Shotzi

WWE announces new tour dates amid speculation of a UK venue hosting Summerslam 2022

Just a week after finishing their last uk tour, wwe have announced plans to come back - and this could be the tip of the iceberg....

  • 10:40, 30 SEP 2021
  • Updated 10:39, 4 OCT 2021

WWE Champion Big E

WWE have announced a final UK tour for 2021 but industry watchers believe this is just the start and the UK could be hosting Summerslam 2022, its first UK pay-per-view in 30 years.

With WWE Smackdown Superstars only finishing their first post-Covid tour of the UK last week - and Drew McIntyre finally getting a triumphant return home to celebrate his achievements of the last two years in front of a Glasgow crowd - tickets have already gone on sale for WWE Live , a mixed-brand event set for November.

But wrestling journalist Alex McCarthy, who's usually pretty in the know, is reporting that WWE fans could have something even bigger to look forward to, with talks ongoing for a UK pay-per-view, possibly Summerslam 2022 and possibly to be held in Cardiff at the Principality Stadium.

This is of particular significance because it would be the 30th anniversary of Wembley Stadium hosting the iconic Summerslam '92, headlined by Bret Hart and Davey Boy Smith.

Ticketmaster are selling tickets for all venues on the new tour now.

WWE superstars will start in Brighton at the Brighton Centre on November 3, before travelling back and forth between Sheffield, Birmingham, London, Liverpool, Leeds and Nottingham over the following week.

The tour will finish at the AO Arena Manchester on Wednesday, November 10.

The full WWE Live November 2022 Tour venue list is:

  • The Brighton Centre, Brighton - Wednesday November 3, 6pm
  • Utilita Arena, Sheffield - Thursday November 4, 7.30pm
  • Utilita Arena, Birmingham - Friday, November 5, 7.30pm
  • SSE Arena Wembley, London - Saturday, November 6, 7.30pm
  • M&S Bank Arena, Liverpool - Sunday, November 7, 6pm
  • First Direct Arena, Leeds - Monday, November 8, 6pm
  • Motorpoint Arena, Nottingham - Tuesday, November 9, 7.30pm
  • AO Arena, Manchester - Wednesday, November 10, 7.30pm

Ticket prices vary by venue but the cheapest we've seen is £29.30 plus fees.

Of course, if you want them there are also VIP options available that offer a range of additional perks including seats ringside or along the entry way in case, Covid restrictions allowing, you want to high-five a superstar, the chance to walk up the hallowed walkway yourself before the rest of the crowd gets in (sadly they stop short of letting you run the ropes) and early shopping access.

Tickets are also available from TheTicketFactory .

The announcement of this latest tour and the possibilities for a long-awaited UK pay-per-view give UK wrestling fans much to look forward to.

WWE NXT UK is also is also reportedly going to begin touring again.

All this means there's more content than ever for fans to enjoy on BT Sport , which hosts all WWE's content in the UK, including pay-per-views on a contract-free monthly pass for just £25.

Hardcore punk band American Nightmare are suing Cody Rhodes, the WWE Undisputed Champion

WWE wrestler Rhodes has been calling himself “The American Nightmare” for several years, sometimes to the chagrin of the band of the same name

American Nightmare in 2018, and Cody Rhodes in 2024

A hardcore band called American Nightmare are suing WWE wrestler Cody Rhodes.

The suit was filed by vocalist Wesley Eisold and alleges trademark infringement by Rhodes, who uses the in-ring nickname “The American Nightmare”, as well as the WWE itself and merchandising company Fanatics. It was filed on Wednesday, September 4, in a California court, according to The PRP and Postwrestling.com .

Rhodes (real name Cody Runnels) began calling himself “The American Nightmare” after leaving WWE in 2016 and wrestling on the independent circuit. It’s a reference to “The American Dream”, a moniker used by Rhodes’ father Dusty Rhodes (Virgil Runnels) before his death in 2015. Rhodes rejoined WWE in 2022 and currently holds the WWE Undisputed Championship, the company’s most high-profile title belt.

Eisold and Rhodes first clashed over the rights to the “American Nightmare” name in 2019. According to The PRP , the vocalist disputed Rhodes’ attempt to copyright the name. The two parties came to an agreement in 2021 that let Rhodes use the nickname, albeit with restrictions. Said restrictions include the phrase “The American Nightmare” only being allowed to appear on merchandise that clearly references Rhodes and/or pro-wrestling. Eisold was given a one-time payment of $30,000 for his cooperation.

Now, Eisold is claiming that Rhodes, WWE and Fanatics have breached the terms of this agreement. He alleges that they have placed the phrase “The American Nightmare” on merchandise not clearly related to Rhodes and/or wrestling, infringing the rights of his band in the process.

Eisold claims to have attempted to contact Rhodes’ legal team in 2022 over other alleged infractions but received no reply. He is reportedly seeking at least $150,000 in damages, which could rise to $300,000 in treble damages, plus legal fees.

American Nightmare formed in 1998 and have released three albums, the latest of which being a 2018 self-titled LP.

Manchester United and Chelsea hero Juan Mata speaks out on motivation behind surprise move

Vissel Kobe v Kashima Antlers - J.LEAGUE Meiji Yasuda J1

Juan Mata says he has ‘longed to live’ in Australia after completing a surprise move to A-League side Western Sydney Wanderers.

The 36-year-old left Manchester United in 2022 and has since played for Galatasaray , had a very short stint in Japan with Vissel Kobe and is now heading Down Under.

The World Cup, Champions League and European Championship winner says he has always fancied moving to Australia and can’t wait to have a crack at another league.

‘I’m feeling, again, very thankful to football for the many experiences and joy that keeps bringing to my life,’ Mata wrote on Instagram . ‘Today, a new adventure is starting, and I’m super excited about it! I will keep enjoying this amazing sport by playing not only in a different country… but in a different continent: AUSTRALIA, HERE I GO!

‘I have always been amazed with your country and longed to live there… Now, I will do it in the beautiful city of Sydney. I’m joining @wswanderersfc , the only Australian team to ever win the Asian Champions League, and I cannot wait to arrive and train with the team to prepare for the season ahead.

‘Feeling grateful and excited for this new adventure, and looking forward to trying to win another championship in a different league! 🙏 Let’s go Western Sydney Wanderers, I’m one of you 🖤❤️

‘Ps: Friends & Family, if you are thinking about visiting, please plan in advance this time.’

https://www.instagram.com/p/C_iDrtiNnCF

The veteran added to club media: ‘I’m really excited to join the Western Sydney Wanderers, the only Australian team to ever win the Asian Champions League , and I cannot wait to arrive and train with the team to prepare for the season ahead,” said Mata.

‘I’m feeling grateful and excited for this new adventure, and looking forward to trying to win another Championship in a different league!’

Mata never won a league title in Europe, at Valencia, Manchester United or Chelsea, but has since been on a run of success.

His one season in Türkiye yielded a Super Lig title with Galatasaray, while despite playing just one game for Vissel Kobe, he got a medal for winning the J1 League.

Galatasaray v Fenerbahce - Super Lig

Western Sydney Wanderers head coach Alen Stajcic said: ‘The addition of Juan to our club and team is priceless.

‘He is one of the most respected, gifted and awarded players of a generation and brings not only football talent and success rarely seen in Australian club football, but also a humility to share his experiences and insights.

‘Juan will help our team perform “on the field” but even more critically, he will be an important figure in turbo charging the growth and development of our youthful squad.

‘It’s a great day for our football club and I am sure all Wanderers fans will be excited to see what this team can deliver now.’
