Ludovico Einaudi is playing a small number of concerts across Europe to introduce his new band and he’s chosen to play two nights at the legendary London Palladium as his only UK concerts this year.

The concerts will feature some of his major solo and band works.

The most-streamed classical artist of all time, Ludovico Einaudi returned last year with his first new solo piano album in 20 years, ‘Underwater’, a collection of 12 newly-composed solo piano tracks.

The release of ‘Underwater’ followed some astounding achievements for Einaudi with the release of soundtracks to Oscar, BAFTA, and Golden Globe-winning films Nomadland and The Father (which include tracks from his chart-topping 2019 release ‘Seven Days Walking’), and the compilation album ‘Cinema’, featuring his composition achievements in film and TV.

Einaudi has quietly become one of the most successful musicians in the world. His hauntingly beautiful and evocative music tops the classical charts worldwide, particularly here in the UK and in his home country Italy. He has performed to huge crowds at the world’s most prestigious venues; in 2022 alone he sold out three nights at Eventim Apollo followed by three nights at the Royal Albert Hall.

Ludovico Einaudi Biography - The Sound of a New Era

Born in Turin, Italy as the grandson of Luigi Einaudi, the country's first post-war president, this talented melody maker studied at the prestigious Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi in Milan. He was tutored by composer Luciano Berio, leader of the classical avant-garde movement, and eventually received his diploma in composition in 1982. Honing his craft over the years, the talented Italian was inspired by New Age music while searching for a more personal sound. Combining art and music into multimedia shows, he crafted an introspective, minimalist sound and incomparable live experience that set him apart from his contemporaries.

The new compositions were instantly recognised for their affecting beauty, and the burgeoning artist started to perform on the international stage, playing distinguished venues such as Teatro alla Scala and New York's Lincoln Centre. In 1992, the release of his sophomore album, Stanze , earned him heaps of critical recognition and spread his music beyond classical circles. In 2011 the composer reached new heights of stardom when the single 'I Giorni' reached the Top 40 on the UK Singles Chart, thanks to the support of BBC Radio 1 presenter Greg James.

Ludovico Einaudi, the most-streamed classical artist of all time, has announced he will release Underwater , his first new solo piano album in 20 years, on 21 January 2022 and a UK tour in March 2022. Einaudi has wanted to write a solo piano album for several years but needed the right environment to be able to fully commit to the project. Lockdown gave him this rare opportunity. He embraced the isolation from his normal busy schedule and wrote 12 new solo piano tracks showcasing his distinctive musical style, which is recognised throughout the world, for his new album Underwater .

“It came naturally, more than ever before”

Ludovico Einaudi’s new album Underwater is a manifesto for life and a statement for the time when the world around him was quiet and still during the pandemic. He explained, “It came naturally, more than ever before. I felt a sense of freedom to abandon myself and let the music flow differently. I didn’t have a filter between me and what came out of the piano; it felt very pure. The title Underwater is a metaphor – it is an expression of a very fluid dimension, without interference from outside.”

Underwater follows a remarkable year for Ludovico Einaudi with the release of soundtracks to Oscar, BAFTA, and Golden Globe-winning films Nomadland and The Father (which include tracks from his chart-topping 2019 release Seven Days Walking ), and the compilation album Cinema , featuring his greatest works for film and television.

Experience: The Ludovico Einaudi Story , a new podcast mini-series, was also launched in 2021 starring celebrated filmmakers including multiple award-winning actor and director Russell Crowe (Gladiator), Oscar-winning director Chloe Zhao ( Nomadland ), BAFTA-winning director and screenwriter Shane Meadows ( This is England ), Academy Award winner Florian Zeller ( The Father ), and multiple award-winning director Eric Toledano ( The Intouchables ).
